Food Bank of Western Massachusetts Together, we end hunger. www.foodbankwma.org

A member of the Feeding America network.

Since 1982, the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts has been a community partner to end hunger. We provide healthy and culturally responsive food directly through our Mobile Food Bank and Brown Bag: Food for Elders sites and through the 169+ member food assistance network in Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden, and Hampshire counties. These independent pantries, meal sites, and shelters are on the front l

ines, providing food and other resources to individuals, families, seniors, children, and people with disabilities, including veterans, so they may lead healthy and meaningful lives. The Food Bank partners on public education and advocacy to eliminate systemic barriers to food security, operating with the belief that everyone has a right to healthy food.

Harvest season is in full swing at the Food Bank Farm and we could really use some extra hands! ๐ŸŒฑ

Volunteer shifts are open every week and there's plenty to keep you busy, from weeding and harvesting to foliar spraying, trellising tomatoes, and more. No farming experience needed, just a willingness to get outside. Every shift genuinely helps us grow more nutritious local food for communities across Western Massachusetts.

All Out Adventures is back for their third year at Will Bike 4 Food and we are so happy to have them! ๐Ÿšด

They provide outdoor recreational opportunities for people of all ages and abilities using specialized equipment and trained staff, making sure everyone can get outside and be part of the experience together. Veterans, seniors, people with disabilities, and their families and friends are all welcome in their programs, and that spirit fits perfectly with what WB4F is all about.

We're to see you back out there All Out Adventures! And we hope everyone will come ride with us September 20th by signing up at www.willbike4food.org ๐Ÿ”—

Meet Amanda Locke, and her (formerly) little riders. ๐Ÿฅน

Mandy and her family have been coming to Will Bike 4 Food for years, and what started as a fundraising event has become a full on family tradition. She even brought out her printed scrapbooks to show us, and yes, Will Bike 4 Food has its very own pages in there! It was an absolute joy flipping through those.

Amanda's family was created through foster care, and that shared understanding of why resources and community matter is a big part of why they participate every year. But WB4F isn't just a ride for them, it's a day that brings everyone together, kids included, for something bigger than any one family in any one county.

If you've ever wondered whether WB4F is something the kids would enjoy, Amanda's story is the best example you can ask for. From the littlest riders to the most real deal cyclists, there's room for everyone. We can't wait to see Amanda and her crew out there on September 20th, and we hope you'll join us too! As summer comes to a close, the work is far from over. Since last fall, SNAP has been drastically reduced โ€“ more than 60,000 children (and counting) in Massachusetts have already lost SNAP benefits since last July. Federal food shipments are still projected to drop by 33%. And the families turning to local pantries and meal sites for support still have a right to nutritious food.

This is the last chance to be part of our summer's push to grow together! Every gift made now helps the Food Bank head into fall with the food supply and flexibility we need to keep showing up for our community members and the 200 local partners we work alongside across Western Massachusetts. Summer may be ending but the need is still growing, and there's still time to make a difference.

Make a gift today before summer ends and help us carry this work into the rest of the year: https://www.foodbankwma.org/donate/bridge-the-food-gap-a-summer-to-grow-together2/?utm_source=social&utm_medium=facebook&utm_campaign=bridge_the_gap2

We know that applying for SNAP can feel confusing or a bit overwhelming, especially with recent changes to the program. But itโ€™s important to know this: SNAP is still a vital program that provides funds to purchase food.

Our team at the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts is here to help you navigate the SNAP Program whether you need to apply, have questions about your case, or would like a second opinion about the status of your application.

We can screen you for eligibility and answer any questions you may have. Then, if interested weโ€™ll submit an application for you over the phone. You can reach us at our SNAP referral number, 413-992-6204, or send us a message online.

You can find our online form here: https://www.foodbankwma.org/snap-referral/

SNAP helps individuals and families afford the food they need, and weโ€™re here to make accessing it as simple as possible. ๐Ÿ™‚

As we wrap up summer, there's still a lot to be done in preparation for the fall. Across Western Mass, nearly 16,000 households have lost access to SNAP since July 2025. Additionally, we're anticipating a 33% loss of federal food shipments. And yet we're STILL determined to be a reliable source of food for the pantries, meal sites, and individuals who will be turning to us for support through the rest of the year.

We've been working all summer to grow our food supply, but we can't do it without your support. This summer has been our opportunity to grow together and build the momentum we need heading into fall. Before summer ends, make a gift today to help carry Western Massachusetts through the rest of the year: https://www.foodbankwma.org/donate/bridge-the-food-gap-a-summer-to-grow-together2/?utm_source=social&utm_medium=facebook&utm_campaign=bridge_the_gap2

What a night at Shelburne Falls Memorial Hall last week! Thank you to everyone who came out for the 1st Franklin District Candidate Forum and made it such a great evening. ๐Ÿ‘

Events like this one are so important. Having the chance to hear directly from candidates, ask your own questions, and walk away feeling more informed about who you might vote for is something we're so proud to be a part of. We're grateful to candidates Corinne Coryat, Lora Wondolowski, and Amy Lavalee for showing up and engaging so openly with the community, and to Monte Belmonte for keeping the conversation moving.

If you missed it or want to revisit any part of the evening, the full recording is available at youtube.com/live/uuzBEwncNqI

Thanks for coming!
