Dian Zhao Lin - known affectionately as "Mr. Lin" to the patrons of his Chinese restaurant in Mount Morris, NY - built a life in the U.S for over 20 years, alongside his wife and his six children. Now, the family is demanding answers after Mr. Lin was aggressively detained by ICE on his way to work.

A viral video of the cruel arrest shows ICE agents using excessive force to pin Mr. Lin down, as he shouts for help. Lin is one of over 5,30 Chinese immigrants who have been kidnapped by ICE since Trump re-took office, according to data from our A/PI ICE Tracker.

It's clear that ICE has never cared about promoting public safety. Instead, they're trying to make us feel unsafe and unwelcome in our neighborhoods.

The midterm elections are two weeks away, and Asian voters have the incredible power to be the deciding vote for a new majority in Congress. In fact, there are over 1.2 million eligible Asian voters in Texas — that's 5% of the Texas electorate.

We can fight back against the rampant xenophobia we're seeing from Republicans like Ken Paxton. We can use our votes to let them know that we want elected officials who care about affordability and safety – not sowing fear and hate in our communities. We can elect leaders who will use our tax dollars to invest in our communities and not ICE.

This weekend, our team was honored to join Tsuru For Solidarity's Liberation Obon to send an important message: We refuse to let ICE continue attacking immigrant communities in our name and with our tax dollars. Since Trump's return to the White House, over 21,000 Asian people have been arrested by ICE and over 9,500 have been deported. They and every single person harmed by Trump's anti-immigrant regime deserve to be treated with dignity, and reunited with their loved ones.

For years, thousands of pro-democracy activists from Hong Kong sought refuge in the U.S. after the Chinese government ramped up its crackdown on public protests and dissent. Now, the Trump regime is turning its back on yet another community that America promised to protect.

An investigation by Politico uncovered dozens of stories from activists detained by ICE this year — despite an active directive that allows them to live and work in the U.S. Some activists were given an impossible choice: Accept a “voluntary departure” agreement to return to Hong Kong and face severe
persecution from the Chinese government, or be forced into one of ICE’s disgusting prison camps indefinitely.

This is further evidence that Trump and his loyalists are trying to dismantle all of the legal pathways that Asian communities rely on to live, work, and study in the U.S. And we can’t let it continue.

As a teen, Qingfang Pang came to the United States from China to pursue his passion for playing basketball. But today, he faces an uncertain future in one of ICE's horrific prisons. While traveling to New York to reunite with loved ones and complete routine paperwork for his visa, he was kidnapped by ICE and detained hundreds of miles away in Louisiana.

This is yet another example of how Trump is weaponizing our immigration system against people of color and constantly changing the rules to detain and deport as many people as possible. And it's students like Qingfang who are paying the price.

💡 NEW RESEARCH: The Trump regime’s anti-immigrant agenda is emboldening people to intimidate, harass, and enact violence against Asians, regardless of immigration or citizenship status.

According to an analysis of Stop AAPI Hate reporting center data, anti-immigrant hostility appeared in the majority (62%) of reported anti-Asian hate acts in the first half of 2026, up from 42% in 2023 — before Trump’s re-election campaign ramped up. And in a growing number of cases, Asian people are facing anti-immigrant threats and violence that mirror Trump’s anti-immigrant policies and rhetoric.

Authorities have revealed disturbing new details about the attempted mass shooting targeting Indian people at the largest Hindu temple in Aurora, IL.

Last Sunday, the temple was full of worshipers when 19-year-old Alexandros Paporakis arrived with a r***e and other weapons. He attempted to open fire but drove home after discovering his gun was jammed. He was arrested later that evening after confessing to his plans to a coworker.

In an 8-page manifesto uncovered by authorities, Paporakis allegedly used racial slurs, expressed his plans for a “mass shooting of Indian people,” and “took pleasure” in calling himself “a sociopathic white supremacist Neo-Nazi.”

This is exactly what we feared, after years of documenting escalating hate against South Asian communities under the Trump administration.

This horrific mass murder plot comes at a time when South Asian communities nationwide face heightened racism, xenophobia, and bigotry. Our research shows that use of anti-South Asian slurs online rose by 109% from 2023 to 2025. South Asians also face the most online threats of violence (71%) out of all Asian groups.

Violence against South Asian people is not inevitable. Our research shows it is fueled when leaders stoke fear of immigrants and people of color for political gain. We call on elected officials of every party to condemn this attempted mass shooting and hold Trump and other public figures accountable for their xenophobic rhetoric and policies.

The Trump regime claims that DHS doesn’t arrest U.S. citizens — but a new report from ProPublica shows otherwise.

Their investigation found over 500 cases of violent ICE arrests of U.S. citizens, including some Asian Americans. 56-year-old Hmong American Chongly “Scott” Thao is one of them. Earlier this year, he was kidnapped by ICE agents from his home in nothing but his underwear and a blanket because he matched the description of someone they were targeting.

But Thao’s wrongful arrest was no coincidence. It was the direct consequence of a 2025 Supreme Court ruling allowing ICE to racially profile people. These arrests are proof that attacks against immigrants have never been about legality, but racism.
