NBFD Meeting 6/11/2020

Our meeting got infiltrated by some hooligans early on in the meeting. Quick damage control and user banning occurred after realizing what was going on. Our apologies for the booty shaking at about 2:53 (in case you’d like to skip said booty shaking start the video at 3:00-ish). I’m just glad it wasn’t something worse. 🙄

This is why I’m hesitant to allow the general public from joining video conference meetings while live streaming on Facebook. -AC

North Bannock wants to congratulate those that are having a different type of graduation this year. On Thursday a parade was given for the Seniors in the Tyhee area. We were honored to be asked to lead this parade. Here are some pictures thanks to Kyle Rileys.

A recent news story was released regarding burn restrictions. Most of the state is currently under burn restrictions, though Bannock County is not currently under restriction. The biggest issue is for those who are already having difficulty breathing, smoke in the air can increase their difficulty. Also, there is reduced firefighting staff for controlling wildfires. So if you are going to burn, please:

Consider the smoke distribution and the health of your neighbors.

Ensure proper clearing of the fuels based on the size of your fire.

Always supervise your fire with adequate water for extinguishing the size of fire quickly.

Obtain a burn permit from the agency that provides your fire protection and comply with the rules and regulations.

The link below provides information on where burning is prohibited.

Your North Bannock Fire District commissioners and Fire Chief are monitoring the situation and will consider needed measures in the future.

This map may contain burn information from multiple agencies. DEQ restrictions are in accordance with IDAPA 58.01.01.550-562, 600-624 or local outdoor open burning ordinances.

We have decided to make our meetings more predictable to make it easier to attend. We, of course, always welcome public comment at our meetings. Each month, our fire district meetings will be held at our fire station on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 6:00 PM.

However, we will soon be updating you with a process to live stream board meetings where you will be able to "attend" and provide input remotely while practicing safe social distancing during this time.

---UPDATE: 9PM 3/16/20---
We did not get hardly any paper products in our truck, we will be limiting people to one ROLL of TP each. We are also limiting quantities of everything in the store. We still are low on cleaning supplies, baking supplies, and some other grocery items. There is still alot of product on our shelves including, bottled water, canned goods, meat, and much more! Remember 65 and older/immune compromised people ONLY from 7am-10am.

---UPDATE: 1PM 3/16/20---
We will be closing Monday 3/16 when our truck arrives so we can restock. We originally said that we would be open until our normally scheduled time, we are sorry that has changed. See the original post below for more details.

----ORIGINAL POST----
As a courtesy service we want to offer shopping Tuesday March 17th from 7 to 10 am for our guests and others of the community 65 and older to shop to help protect them from any potential exposure to any kind of sickness. We will also welcome those whose immune systems would otherwise be comprised in larger public settings. We will then be open for EVERYONE until 8 Pm on Tuesday.

We appreciate that there has been people offering to come in and volunteer during our seniors/immune compromised shopper time. Although we are grateful, we are not accepting volunteer help tomorrow. This is being done to reduce the number of people at the store/in the store.

We welcome the general public after 10 am on Tuesday March 17th, and hope that all will respect our desire to help those of a higher risk. We also offer online ordering to all of our guests on our website. Visit www.nelsbilo.com/shop-online to find out how. PLEASE NOTE: the Rosie app shows every product we offer, it does not show if we are out. You will get a call after your online order is placed to discuss availability. WE DO NOT HAVE PAPER PRODUCTS,

Please call if we can be of any service at 208.232.5739 and stay tuned to our page for ongoing updates and product availability. We hope and pray for the safety of all as we wade through uncharted days ahead.

You can find us at 333 N. 15th Ave, in Pocatello Idaho. It is about 3 blocks north of ISU campus (just down the street from Holt Arena).

We deeply believe in neighbors helping neighbors insomuch it is included in our mission statement. You know we’ve offered to shop for the elderly to keep them distanced from exposure at the grocery store. However, there are many things not available right now, so we've decided to begin accepting donations of shortage items (Toilet Paper, Disinfectant Wipes, Masks, etc.) at our station anytime between 9 am until 5 pm (M-F) and by appointment. We hope to distribute these on our deliveries when needed. Neighbors helping neighbors makes North Bannock Strong and it also makes our communities strong.

Lorraine here-Thank you North Bannock Fire for helping elderly. They picked up my medication today & delivered it with much needed item.I am 4 time high risk-so without YOUR HELP I would sure be at risk. What a Blessing! Thank you-stay safe-
I've known Debbie Shell very well for nearly thirty years. I know from her employment experiences, society and committee memberships and just socializing with her she quickly learns and understands systems and projects. She's completely thorough and organized in anything that she does. She's lived in Bannock County since the mid 1970s and I'm convinced that there isn't a better person for the sub-district 3 commissioner.
Day one as a fire department has been a huge success. Thanks all for your amazing support and interest in making a difference with our Galo/Briscoe fundraiser. We raised over $3500, not including any Venmo donations and it was an honor to be a part of this event. We hope to continue to give opportunities to rub shoulders with our volunteers - normal, everyday people, doing what they can to make a difference to the community we serve. Thanks Pocatello and Chubbuck for showing up tonight!
