The Student Union will be closed for the week and will reopen next week for additional seating, computer use, study space, etc.

Welcome Back Panthers!!

When our students start the Fall Semester at Morton College on Monday, August 24th, they will notice a number of changes.

Because of the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, the well-being of our students, staff and campus community remains our top priority.

All entering Morton College must wear a face mask. If you do not have a face mask, one will be provided. You will also need to complete a daily digital COVID-19 screening survey and undergo a no-contact thermometer check by a medical professional. Those with a temperature of 100.3 will not be admitted on campus. All students will need to complete a COVID-19 Student Self-Reporting Form.

Signage and markers reminding people in a friendly manner to wear masks, socially distance and wash hands are located all over campus. Plexiglass barriers are up in areas with high levels of face-to-face interaction. Hand sanitizer stations are available at various points on campus.

Every academic building, bathroom, office and in-season athletic area are cleaned daily. Paisans, our food vendor, has created an environment that respects physical distancing and discourages the shared use of food stations and other services.

Students were provided with options as how they would like to take classes. You can still register fo the Fall Semester! Please contact your advisor at 708-656-8000, ext. 2250 or visit www.Morton.edu.

Classes in the traditional on-campus setting will be limited to 10 students to ensure social distancing. A hybrid setting features a regular on-campus part as well as a regularly scheduled or anytime on-line component.

On-line classes are offered via “on-a-schedule” or “anytime” format. Students meet with the instructor virtually during scheduled office hours.

Morton College plans socially distant campus support and engagement activities for students in participating in face-to-face programming. Designated computer labs and quiet study spaces will be made available by for students desiring a place to study and work.

Virtual meetings and scheduling appointments are highly encouraged. However, various areas will be prepared to welcome student walk-ins. Also, no more than 50 people will be allowed in one area at any time.

Although we will remain mostly remote, we are continuing to gradually re-open in alignment with the town of Cicero and the state of Illinois. While we can’t promise that we will not have positive cases on our campus this semester, we are committed to undertaking efforts intended to create as safe an environment as feasible for students, faculty and staff.

We all have a shared responsibility to follow best practices, including wearing a mask at all times, safe hygiene and physical distancing. Anything less may alter the trajectory of the semester.

An MC COVID-19 resource page is available on Morton College’s web page to provide all of the institutional and community resources to our college community.

https://www.morton.edu/covid-19-morton-college-response/

We look forward to seeing you on campus again. We will get through this by working together, looking out for each other and lifting each other up.

Have a Safe Fall Semester!

As you know the campus remains closed, but there is still an opportunity for you to return materials checked out from the library.

We have set up a temporary book return out side the campus police dispatcher’s office in Building C. Please return all books checked out from the library to this book return. It will be emptied regularly and all materials checked in and your accounts cleared. For the time being, there will be no fines/fees for overdue materials.

If you have a laptop that you checked out from the library please DO NOT place it in the book return, please give it to the officer on duty.

If you cannot make it to campus to return your materials please send an email to [email protected] and we will make other arrangements.

As a reminder, you may only enter campus by checking in with campus police at 708-656-8000 (ext. 2200 or 2201).
