❄️ Cold Weather Safety Reminder ❄️
As temperatures drop, Claflin Fire Dist. #1 wants to remind everyone to stay warm and stay safe—especially when using space heaters.

🔥 Space Heater Safety Tips:
• Keep heaters at least 3 feet away from anything that can burn
• Never leave space heaters unattended
• Turn heaters off before going to bed or leaving the room
• Plug heaters directly into a wall outlet — no extension cords
• Make sure your heater has an automatic shut-off feature
• Keep heaters out of reach of children and pets

Now is also a good time to test your smoke and CO detectors!!

We want to thank the kindergarten and 3rd grade classes from Central Plains for visiting our station this morning for fire prevention week! They were full of great questions and we had a great time showing them around all of our trucks. We also want to remind everyone that we have our annual open house tomorrow morning, Saturday the 11th. We start serving pancakes and sausage at 6AM and conclude at 10AM with the raffle. The meal is free will donation with all proceeds going to the Philip Donecker medical fund. Hope to see everyone there!

Very strong and damaging southwest winds will create extreme fire danger on Friday. Damaging winds gusting over 60 mph may cause property damage, especially across southeast Kansas.

A reminder going into the next few days with high winds that a burn pit can smolder for days. If you took advantage of the nice days lately to burn, make sure you check it regularly over the weekend.

We want to thank Midwest Energy, Inc. for donating $500 to help pay for the supplies for our open house which was held on October 12th. Thank you everyone who attended and bought raffle tickets!

A reminder of our open house in the morning. We will start serving at 6:00 AM and will start drawing for prizes at 10:00 AM. Tickets for the raffle will be available at the door and every kid who comes tomorrow will get a free ticket for the kids only drawing. Hope to see you in the morning!

Claflin Fire and EMS will be having our annual open house on October 12th. We will be serving pancakes and sausage from 6:00 AM till 10:00 AM. Meal is a free will donation! We have over $7900 in cash prizes and many other awesome prizes this year thanks to our amazing community sponsors. Tickets can be purchased from any Fire and EMS personnel and will also be sold at the door. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. You do not need to be present to win. All kids who come during the event will receive a ticket to be entered into our free kid's only drawing.
