CONCRETE REPAIRS ON SEVERAL ROADS TO START MAY 18, BEGINNING WITH SASHABAW RD., MAYBEE RD. TO WALDON RD. IN INDEPENDENCE TWP.
The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) will begin concrete repairs on Monday, May 18, with lane closures on Sashabaw Road, Maybee Road to Waldon Road in Independence Township.
The work on Sashabaw Road involves removing and replacing selected, deteriorated concrete slabs. Additionally, some curbs will be replaced. The work is expected to take approximately three weeks to complete.
The following roads are also scheduled for repair this year through late fall:
• Baldwin Road, north and south of the I-75 overpass in Auburn Hills.
• Crooks Road, south of Hamlin Road in Rochester Hills.
• Dequindre Road, Wattles Road/17 Mile Road to north of Long Lake Road/18 Mile Road, in Troy and Sterling Heights.
• Dennison Court at Franklin Road in Bloomfield Township.
• Elizabeth Lake Road/Voorheis Road, north and south intersection approaches in Waterford Township.
• Fairview Court at Farmington Road in West Bloomfield Township.
• 14 Mile Road, east of Lake Drive to M-5, in Novi.
• Indianwood Road, west of Joslyn Road at Troon Boulevard in Orion Township.
• Haggerty Road, south of Pontiac Trail in Commerce Township.
• Hickory Ridge Road at the Norma Jean intersection in Highland Township.
• Maple Road, east of Welch Road in Highland Township.
• Silver Bell Road at Villager Drive in Orion Township.
• Ten Mile Road at Watercrest Court in Farmington Hills.
• Thirteen Mile Road at River Crossing and Old Stage in Bingham Farms.
• White Lake Road at the Jean Marie approach in White Lake Township.
• Wixom Road/Grand River Avenue intersection in Wixom.
- Once the new concrete is placed, it must cure before it can support traffic. During the curing period, no workers will be present. Although the road may appear finished, it remains closed to traffic until the concrete has fully cured and gained the necessary strength to support traffic. Most of the work is done under lane closures.
The work will cost approximately $1.5 million and is funded by RCOC. Additional work includes curb repairs at several locations throughout the county.
The contractor for the work is Great Lakes Contracting of Waterford Township. For more information on the project and schedule updates, visit the Concrete Repairs page in the “Road Projects” section of the RCOC website, www.rcocweb.org (direct link: https://www.rcocweb.org/419/Concrete-Repairs).
