Friends of Forty Oaks

Rain check, friends. ☔

Saturday’s Second Saturday workday at Forty Oaks (Oct 10) is canceled due to the weather forecast. We’d rather keep everyone safe and dry than wrestle vines in a downpour.

We’ll be back at the preserve on Saturday, Nov 14 for our usual second Saturday. Same deal — gloves, water, good company, all ages welcome, no experience needed.

Thanks for understanding. See you in November.

We’re back [and we’re moving it a week]!
Second Saturdays return in October, but this month join us on the THIRD Saturday: September 19, 10am–1pm at Forty Oaks Nature Preserve.
Come pull invasives, grab litter, and meet your neighbors. No experience needed, all ages welcome. Wear closed-toe shoes, bring a water bottle, gloves and clippers if you have them — we’ve got extra to share, though.
See you in the woods. 🌳

Two water oaks, finally freed 🌿

This huge invasive shrub had completely surrounded the trunks of these trees and would have eventually reached the canopy. Thanks to an amazing group of volunteers, the oaks can finally breathe again.

Join us for Second Saturdays at Forty Oaks Nature Preserve in Clarkston, Georgia as we continue restoring this urban forest together 🌳

Another beautiful Second Saturday at Forty Oaks 🌿

This month, we planted native favorites—oakleaf hydrangeas, azaleas, dogwoods, and redbuds—adding color and habitat for birds and pollinators. Small steps that grow into something lasting.

Thank you to everyone who came out and got their hands in the soil with us. Join us for Second Saturdays at Forty Oaks Nature Preserve in Clarkston, GA.

March brought another beautiful Second Saturday at Forty Oaks 🌳

We installed 9 community-built birdhouses, planted native shrubs like blackhaw viburnum and serviceberry, and cleared invasive privet to support local wildlife.

Grateful for our wonderful volunteers 💚
Join us next time.
