It is far from a daily occurrence for us to receive requests to check on wildlife, but when such an opportunity arises, it presents a unique chance for education. This young buck, recently born, followed his mother's instructions when faced with perceived danger: to stop, drop, and curl. His mother was foraging nearby, and I am quite certain she was watching me throughout the entire time I was near him.

If you happen to spot a fawn hiding, please stay away and do not touch or move them. While your intentions may be good, the mom may not perceive them as such. She knows where they were left at all times and she will return when done feeding or when danger has passed.

Due to recent operational challenges, we have found it necessary to temporarily suspend new admissions. We recognize the critical need for animal placement services; however, a significant increase in animals originating from outside our city and county has necessitated this difficult decision.

We identified a clear requirement for a dedicated animal shelter facility to serve Johnson County residents, which would help mitigate the issue of animal abandonment within our municipal boundaries. As we do not serve Johnson County or anywhere outside of Clarksville, please direct concerns to the appropriate administration so a positive outcome can be reached.

Furthermore, we are unable to accept animal surrenders as we do not have the capability to do so. However, we are committed to assisting you by providing guidance on where you might be able to find suitable services for this purpose.

We wish to emphasize that the relinquishment of animal ownership should always be conducted responsibly and in accordance with legal requirements. Please be aware that animal abandonment is a criminal offense.
