Update 8/27/2026
πŸ’§ WATER OUTAGE UPDATE β€” RESTORATION CONTINUES πŸ’§

We’re happy to report that our water purchase systems affected by this outage are back online and receiving water, including:

β€’ Pushmataha Rural Water District #1
β€’ Pushmataha Rural Water District #5
β€’ Town of Clayton

While these systems are now receiving water from Sardis Lake Water Authority, their storage towers were also depleted during the outage. Those towers will need time to refill to adequate operating levels before water can be fully pushed back out into their individual distribution systems.

Customers served by these systems may continue to experience no water or low pressure as their towers refill and their distribution lines gradually repressurize.

πŸ’§ Please continue to conserve water as service returns. Keeping water usage to a minimum during this recovery period will help the towers refill and allow service to be restored more quickly.

Water is flowing, the systems are recovering, and restoration is actively underway. We appreciate everyone’s continued patience and cooperation.

Update 8/26/2026 12:15pm
πŸ’§ WATER OUTAGE UPDATE πŸ’§

We have some good news! The distribution tower is back online and at full capacity. Water is now being sent into the distribution system.

Please understand that service will not return everywhere immediately. After the system was depleted, the water lines must gradually refill and build adequate pressure throughout the distribution system. This process will take some time.

Until sufficient pressure reaches the purchase systems, they will be NOT able to begin bringing their systems back online as well.

We know this has been a long and frustrating outage, and we sincerely appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation while our crews work to safely restore water service throughout the system.

Please continue to conserve water as service is restored to help the system recover and maintain pressure.

We will continue to provide updates as restoration progresses. πŸ’§

UPDATE: At this time, there is no estimated time for restoration of water service.

The distribution tower is currently below its required operating level and must refill before we can begin restoring water to the distribution system. The tower generally takes approximately 12–15 hours to reach an adequate operating level.

Once the tower reaches operating level, we will begin putting water back out into the distribution system. Water service will not return to everyone immediately, as it will take additional time for the system to refill and pressure to build throughout the service area.

We will provide additional updates as information becomes available.
🚨 URGENT WATER CONSERVATION NOTICE 🚨

Sardis Lake Water Authority is currently experiencing a catastrophic break at the water treatment plant that is significantly impacting our ability to produce and distribute water.

Crews are actively working to make the necessary repairs. At this time, the estimated time for water production to return is approximately 12 hours.

⚠️ WE ARE ASKING ALL CUSTOMERS TO CONSERVE WATER IMMEDIATELY.

Please limit water use to essential needs only until further notice. Avoid washing vehicles, doing laundry, running dishwashers, filling pools, watering lawns, or any other non-essential water use.

Every gallon conserved helps us maintain as much water as possible in our system while repairs are underway.

We understand the inconvenience this causes and appreciate everyone's cooperation and patience. We will provide updates as soon as additional information becomes available.

πŸ’§ PLEASE SHARE THIS POST to help us reach as many customers as possible.

πŸ’§ MONDAY MINUTE: How Do Water Line Leaks Start?

Have you ever wondered why a water line can suddenly start leaking when everything seemed fine the day before?

Many of the water lines in our system were installed decades ago, and some were installed without the type of protective bedding commonly used around water lines today.

During extended periods of hot, dry weather, the soil surrounding those lines can dry out, shrink, and shift. Without adequate bedding to cushion and support the pipe, it may rest against rocks or other hard material in the ground.

πŸ’§ Water is constantly moving through our system. That movement creates small amounts of vibration and movement within the pipe. Over many years, a pipe rubbing against a rock or another hard surface can gradually wear down the pipe wall.

Then conditions change. Heavy rain can cause dry soil to expand and shift, placing additional stress on an already weakened area.

Eventually, that worn spot can become thin enough to develop a holeβ€”and suddenly, we have a leak.

That's why some leaks aren't caused by one single event. They can be the result of years of wear combined with changing ground conditions.

Our crews continually monitor the system, locate leaks, and make repairs to keep safe, reliable water flowing to our customers. πŸ’™

πŸ’§ Tap Talk Tuesday! πŸ’§

🚰 Why Does My Water Sometimes Look Cloudy?

Ever fill a glass of water and notice it looks a little cloudy or milky at first? Before you worry, it may simply be tiny air bubbles!

Changes in temperature or pressure can cause dissolved air to come out of the water as thousands of tiny bubbles. Try filling a clear glass and letting it sit for a minute or two. If the cloudiness clears from the bottom upward, air is likely the culprit. πŸ’¨πŸ’§

If your water has an unusual color, odor, or taste that persists, give our office a call so we can help.
