Only a handful of days until primary... and referendum issues. Deuel Co. citizens were correct in not wanting a data center. However, they are incorrect in not wanting a backup natural gas energy PRODUCTION facility. As long as the population continues to grow throughout the U.S., and we continue to electrify more things, THE ENERGY GRID NEEDS MORE JUICE! It's that simple. If your rates shoot even higher than already necessary due to high demand, or brownouts or blackouts occur, you only have yourself to blame if you vote no. So vote YES!

Worldwide competition for rare minerals could become a major political issue with dire consequences for some. Transferring pollution from fossil fuels to land pollution from mining such minerals is not the answer. Conservation is... and data centers do not conserve.

Electricity demand by data centers is expected grow 250% by 2030 compared to just two years ago. Without enough new energy production (which hasn't been happening), can you really afford to believe that your rates won't skyrocket. Your own solar system may become a necessity - assuming you can afford it.

So I attended the District 4 Republican Cracker Barrel. At least two of our representatives seem to love the idea of data centers... for three reasons. Revenues, revenues, revenues. When I brought up the issue of rising utility costs for consumers wherever these are built, Rep. Roe stated that one (1) city in North Dakota saw rates decline by 3%. I can not verify nor deny his statement, however... if true, we all know that would be the exception, not the standard. This site is full of legitimate sources explaining the rise in utility costs. I've never seen an economic situation where more electricity demand resulted in lower costs without a corresponding increase in supply - which may be what happened in his example. When I mentioned I had a FB page, he all but belittled it as "everything on Facebook must be true." I don't respect, disrespect.
While data centers should be a local issue, not a state issue, be aware that Roe and Sauder won't give credence to your opinion.
