During this time we all can use some positivity like this story from the city’s Parks & Recreation crews. 🌳🌴

On Tuesday, March 24, the "playground" spray team (Larry, Wayne and Derrick) were involved, in a good way, in two different incidents requiring Clearwater Fire & Rescue Department responses. πŸš’

First, at Valencia Park, these three aided a mother whose small child had become stuck in a TOT swing. They called for FD assistance and the entire team stayed on scene with the mother until FD arrived. Prior to FD arriving, they were able to free the child from the swing, the child was checked and cleared by paramedics a short while later. 😁

But that’s not all, later that same afternoon while at Glen Oaks Park the same team noticed a small fire that had somehow started in a nearby landscape bed. Wayne, in the water truck, began to douse the fire with water while Derrick again called for another FD dispatch who arrived seconds later to put the fire out for good. πŸš’

Thank you Larry Labus, Wayne Jones and Derek Smith for not only keeping Clearwater bright and beautiful, but safe as well. πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

Hi Everyone. I just finished doing a chair yoga video for the city. It should be posted soon. Stay tuned. Namaste. Debra Borghetti
This facility is very disappointing from a seating capacity viewpoint. This park is not able to accommodate the numbers of spectators for a tournament. Seating is severely limited, and chairs aren’t allowed, although plenty of people are sitting in their own chairs. Try sitting in the beyond the designated outfield to enjoy the game, and you are asked to move by grounds crew, because it is allegedly used for other teams to practice and warm up. Seating at each diamond needs to be maxed so spectators don’t have to stand for seven innings.
In town for the Softball Leadoff Classic. This facility is not equipped to host such an Event. Field 8 has minimal to non existent seating for spectators and fans. People standing to observe the game, instead of seated to enjoy the game. Moved to the outfield to sit and enjoy the game with other spectators, and we were told by groundskeepers to leave the outfield as this was a designated β€œpractice area for other teams.” This statement is false. There have been no other Teams practicing in the outfield as you can see in this photo. Disappointed that you are unable to host an Event of this size; and sponsors need to consider another venue for the future. Everyone was just trying to enjoy the afternoon, with camaraderie while supporting our teams at the same time. #getittogether
