Changes in Ohio laws has meant cuts to public library funding. Libraries across the state are feeling the impact of reduced funding. Libraries are facing tough choices, including reduced hours, fewer materials and digital resources, staffing pressures, and cuts to programs and services
-The cuts to library funding are devastating;
it means cuts to opportunity, access and one of the few places in our communities where everyone is welcome, regardless of ability to pay.
-Libraries can be a lifeline for families, children, seniors, job seekers and people without reliable internet access. At a time when Ohio should be investing in stronger communities, the state chose to take resources away from one of our most accessible and valuable public institutions
- Budgets are about priorities.These library cuts reflect a reckless choice by the Republican controlled legislature about how Ohio spends its funds.

Time for change.

"Cleveland Public Library confirmed the library must cope with roughly $2 million less this from the state this budget cycle -- fiscal years 2026 and 2027."
“The public library is the great equalizer. I mean, it levels the playing field for so many individuals in our community. Every single day, we see people coming to the library who are either here for entertainment or for connection or to improve their standing in life,” Jason Kucsma, CEO and fiscal officer for Toledo Lucas County Public Library, said.
Libraries across Ohio are losing millions in state funding after lawmakers changed how public institutions receive dollars, forcing some to reduce hours or close branches.
