Cleveland OK Chamber

Cleveland OK Chamber The Chamber is organized to advance the general welfare and prosperity of the Cleveland Area so that its citizens and all areas of its business community shall prosper.

Attention Chamber Members and Other Area Businesses: It has been brought to my attention that several area businesses have been contacted by a company called Legacy Innovations soliciting advertising on magnets or other promotional items on behalf of the Cleveland Area Chamber of Commerce. We have not communicated with this company, or any company, requesting these services and are in no way associated with them. Please do not purchase advertising from these individuals or company who claim to be acting on behalf of the Cleveland Area Chamber of Commerce. They are not! Thank you to the businesses that called us and let us know this was occurring.

Due to excessive rain and flooding at Feyodi Creek Park, the Chamber of Commerce is in agreement with the City of Cleveland to cancel the Freedom Celebration fireworks display this year and relocate the Freedom Celebration venue to Arlington Park where there will be a small fireworks display at dark.

Stay tuned for detailed schedule of events. We will keep you posted!

Just want to give a BIG THANK YOU to Cleveland Walmart for helping support the Oklahoma freewheel tour with the waters and allowing Lisa help hand them out!!! You guys are awesome!!!

Tomorrow is supposed to be a beautiful day and the Farmers Market will open at 10 a.m. in the parking lot at Arlington Park! Stop by and shop at our vendors. We should have blackberries, assorted herbs, beets, assorted pepper and tomato plants, local honey, both fall and spring, green bell peppers and recipe cards and seeds to all. The first 10 customers will receive free Hearty, Healthy & Homemade 2019 Nutrition Calendars, compliments of ONIE (Oklahoma Nutrition Information and Education Project). My sources tell me we are about a week away from fresh tomatoes.

Pictures of the produce and vendors will be posted in the morning, but if you wait to check them out before coming, you might miss out on something you want! See you at the Cleveland Farmers Market where there are always good things to eat. Buy Fresh, Buy Local!

Ric Rommel stopped by the Chamber office this morning and shared some great information with me that involves not only our town, but our neighboring towns as well!

OK Freewheel is a week long bicycle tour in early June across Oklahoma. Typically, it begins near the Red River, Oklahoma's southern border with Texas and travels north to end just across the Kansas state line.

Day 1(Sunday) of OK Freewheel starts in Hugo and the journey for the cyclists to wind their way north begins.

Day 6 (Friday, June 14th) will find the Freewheelers departing from Drumright where they camped overnight and traveling north on Hwy 99 passing through Oilton and Jennings. It appears they will ride east from Jennings to Terlton and travel north to Cleveland on Terlton Road.

The majority of the cyclists will be coming into Cleveland between 9 and 9:30 a.m. and will continue the journey north through Hominy and Wynona where they will again ride east to Barnsdall and continue northwest to Pawhuska where the will camp Friday night.

At this time there are approximately 350 registered participants.

This is a great opportunity for us to showcase our towns and our awesome hospitality. Let's roll out the Welcome mat!

The Cleveland Farmers Market is today from 4-7 p.m. on the corner of Broadway and Pawnee!

Since the area weathermen and I aren't always on track with what the weather is really going to be in our area on Farmers Market Day, I am leaving the decision up to common sense and our Farmers Market vendors to set up or not in accordance with the weather.

Today the weather looks good and the Farmers Market is on! It is still quite early in the growing season and we anticipate a much larger variety of fruits and vegetables to start appearing at the market so be sure and stop by on your home from work or take a stroll in Arlington Park after dinner and check the Market out.

Today's Special Buy is an assortment of plants that include a variety of peppers and tomatoes for $1.00 a 4-pack. Riverbend Ranch plans to be on hand as well with local honey.

We hope to see you there!

I just came from Walmart after having been invited by Manager, Codey Howard, to come and address the morning meeting and share what is going on in the region and how they might be of assistance.

After having been employed part time at Walmart for almost 10 years at what I referred to as my "fun job", I have a great deal of insight as to how much Walmart gives to the region. There is not another Walmart Store located within approximately 30 miles of our Cleveland Store #207 and requests for donations and assistance come from a large area. I know you might be thinking that Walmart is a large retailer, it's not like they are a small independent business owner, and you are correct, but proportionately they have limited allocated funds to give back to the region and from my experience they give it all, not only in financial donations or merchandise, but assisting with programs such as Shop with a Cop and others.

The Associates are second to none in being community- minded and supporting numerous events within the region.

I am grateful to every business in our area and to the generosity given by them to support our schools, churches, organizations and those in need. We are so fortunate to live where we live. The generosity shown in our town is like a jigsaw puzzle, if every act of giving by all of our local businesses, large or small, was represented by a puzzle piece and those pieces were put together, the result would be a magnificent picture of humanity.

This week, the featured business is Walmart, who knows, next week it might be your business or organization.

I hope you will plan on attending the Chamber of Commerce annual meeting on June 27th where the Chamber of Commerce will be recognizing those generational businesses that have neen in business 50+ years.

Due to the severe weather forecast we have talked to the trucks & are going to postpone until Wednesday (May 22nd) from 11am-7pm. Hope to see everyone there.
