Meet Hazel, who has been described as the cutest, sweetest little gremlin. This pocket-sized nugget is sweet, cheerful and very engaging. She loves to interact with people and when she gets to meet a new friend, she wiggles and wags hard enough to power a small vehicle.

Hazel is bright, plucky and silly, but has an easy-going and pleasant demeanor. She is a good listener and all around mild-mannered, whether she is going for a stroll or leaning up against you for cuddles. She likes taking plenty of breaks to wriggle, army crawl and roll through the grass and enjoy the sunshine too. If you want to see her get goofy, just turn on a sprinkler!

Hazel already has some solid manners down. She seems like she could be housebroken as she consistently does her business outside. She is quiet, gentle with people and she already knows how to sit. With other dogs, for her play group assessment she was socially with a softer rather than rowdy play style.

Cheers to Porter! Porter is obviously a stunner - his gorgeous coloring catches your eye right away. But just spend a couple minutes with Porter and you'll see he has an equally lovely personality - engaging, endearingly goofy, derpy yet attentive. He's a bright, social young dog ready to shine as your sidekick!

Porter certainly has a high entertainment value - he's a hoot! He is a total delight when he gets going with a favorite toy, prancing and darting and tossing it around for himself. Sometimes he likes to carry a favorite toy with him on a walk. He also likes stretching his legs on walks or going for a jog with our run group!

Porter is a ready to be a pal to humans and dogs alike. With people, he is affectionate and personable, ready to make friends with a big wagging tail. He has his moments of puppyish excitement and would thrive in a home where he can keep his mind and body active. With dogs he has been playful, with dogs his size as well as smaller ones. He offers big goofy play bows to show he's game for some fun.

At around 2 years old, Porter is a lot like a smart teenager. He still has some youthful exuberance but he balances it with brains and an eagerness to please. In a home of his own, we think he'll grow into an awesome dog. He weighs 59 lbs.

Congratulations to Phoebe, Magnus, Catalina, Chase, Ace (adopted through a foster home), Aubrey (also adopted through a great foster), Beachie, Boomerang, Casey, Fergie (a foster fail!), Gizmo (another foster adoption), Hermione (also through a foster home), Mimosa, Remi and Mazel for finding their homes this week!

Meet Sonny! A large, lovable goober powered almost entirely by snacks and cuddles.

This handsome love muffin is playful, silly, and endlessly affectionate. On a recent outing with a volunteer, Sonny spent the day exploring the backyard, chasing toys, going for a walk, and making sure his people never got too far away. He soaked up every bit of attention he could find and reminded everyone he met that personal space is really more of a suggestion. If you sit down, Sonny will assume you've prepared a lap just for him.

Like many dogs, Sonny is still building confidence in some areas. Getting into the car for the first time? Highly suspicious. Getting out of the car? An ongoing discussion. But once Sonny decides something is safe, he's all in. With a little patience and encouragement, his brave side shines through.

This bowling-ball-headed sweetheart would thrive in a home with plenty of love, attention, and possibly a confident canine friend to show him the ropes. He does great passing other dogs on walks or through the fence, and he was playfully social for his play group assessment with other dogs.

What Sonny wants most in life is simple: a family to love, a family to hug, and a family to lean on—literally. Preferably one that understands his giant head is filled mostly with affection and only a moderate amount of thoughts.

He's sweet. He's silly. He's a little chaotic. He's ridiculously handsome. And he's ready to be someone's very best friend. Sonny is around 1 year old and currently weighs 51 lbs.

Call the ball and adopt Umpire! This happy, active pup is quick to make friends with a big smile and wagging tail. He is playful and goofy and ready to be your best pal for all sorts of fun and adventures!

Umpire's friendliness extends to people and dogs alike. He is a regular in our play groups might enjoy having a doggy playmate in his future home. He often acts as a "helper dog" welcoming new dogs to play group because he is great at adapting his play style to match the other dogs, whether they are rowdy wrestlers or more dainty.

Umpire has also had a good time participating in our run groups, hikes, and good old fashion play time. He has some exuberant, bouncy energy when he first gets out but tends to burn it quickly, and then he settles into a more easy-going pace. During downtime, he likes to sploot in the grass or hang out for pets.

Umpire already knows a few cues. He can sit for treats and is working on "down." He also tends to do his business outside, so we believe he could be housebroken. In the car, he can be a little nervous jumping in but then settles into being a nice passenger. So if you're looking for a fun-loving, active buddy to help you get out and about - Umpire is ready to meet you!

Meet Laszlo! This fun, engaging pup would love to be you sidekick for adventure as well as sunbathing in the nicer weather.

Laszlo would likely enjoy an active home to match his playful spirit. He is known for his passion for toys, and he can entertain himself for long periods with some good rope toys, stuffies, and balls. This beefy bro was a bit shy and unsure when he first came to the kennel, but he's really opened up to show his true happy self.

On a sleepover, Laszlo showed that he can also be quite affectionate and more laid-back than he comes across at the kennel. After about an hour of exploring the house, he settled in, relaxed on the couch, watching TV, playing, napping, and playing with some toys. He loves to snuggle! He seems like he simply enjoys having human company and was content to entertain himself or sleep while his person was working at home.

Laszlo is also smart, motivated, and a quick learner. He cheerfully shows off that he knows sit, down, and paw. He appears housebroken (no accidents in two days as a house guest), was respectful of the household and did not chew things he shouldn't, and he settled down in a crate after a little while. He seems like a dog that will really thrive with the routine and consistency of a home (as opposed to kennel life.) He certainly has all the smiles that he's ready to share!

Do you have a dog at home who could use a play mate? Then consider meeting one of our play group helper dogs!

Play groups at the kennel give dogs a chance to play, socialize, and get enrichment. Plus, they help us get to know the dogs more and gives us useful information to share during meet and greets. Play groups also form a part of the behavior assessments that each dog goes through before going up for adoption. The staff who run our play groups identify "helper" dogs who have been reliably tolerant and adaptable when interacting with other dogs to help welcome new dogs to play group.

Right now, two of our helper dogs are Pippy and Umpire! Both dogs are long-time residents at the kennel and while they do enjoy getting to go to play group most days of the week, they would MUCH rather be in a home!

Pippy (white muzzle) is female, 40 lbs and estimated to be around a year old. She is a sweet, goofy pup who is known for flopping across your lap for snuggles. She is playful and friendly meeting new people, which she has shown at events, going on TV, and more!

Umpire (all black) is male, 54 lbs and estimated to be around 2 years old. He is a happy, exuberant, active pup who could make a great adventure buddy! He has enjoyed his time on hikes, runs, and more with our volunteers when he is not hanging out in play group.

AJ is looking for a home ASAP! He is a total stunner with a sweet personality. AJ is attentive, curious and overall happy-go-lucky, making him a pleasant buddy to send time with. But the kennel is a stressful place for AJ, but as soon as he gets out for a walk his inner cheerfulness shines, and he can't wait to permanently brighten up the days of a family of his own.

AJ is active yet easygoing, and he simply enjoys spending time with people. He makes a pleasant companion for a walk, calmly observant of what's going around him but attentive to his person and receptive to guidance. He also can get silly and playful with toys when he gets to let loose in a fenced-in yard. But most of all, he likes taking breaks to soak up affection in whatever form he can get.

We can imagine AJ fitting easily, and gratefully, into a home environment. He seems like he is housebroken - he consistently keeps his kennel tidy and does his business outdoors - and he already knows how to sit and take treats nicely. With other dogs in play group, he has been sociable and playful. He's a friendly young pup waiting for his second chance!
