Dear Anderson County,

My name is Lucas Heaton, and I am running for State Executive Committeeman, District 5. I am a lifelong resident of Anderson County, and a proud Conservative Republican. I first got involved with politics when I was eight years old when my mom took me to go vote because she wanted to show me how the process works. I attended various political events all throughout my childhood. In 2022, I was asked to help restart the Anderson County Young Republicans and run for Chairman. During my time as Chairman, we helped the Anderson County Republican Party with different events, and helped get young people involved with the Republican Party. In 2024, I was asked to run as a Committed Statewide Delegate for President Donald Trump. I won my election with nearly 130,000 votes across the State of Tennessee. In 2025, I held a very successful fundraiser for the Anderson County Young Republicans with Congressman Tim Burchett as our speaker. In 2026, I stepped away as Chairman of the Anderson County Young Republicans to run for State Executive Committeeman. I first decided to run for State Executive Committee back in 2024 when I saw some stuff that the State Executive Committee was doing. I almost decided not to run when my best friend and my biggest supporter, Blayr went to go be with the Lord. I decided to continue to run because I know she would want me to run. My goal on the State Executive Committee is to help grow the Republican Party with the next generation of voters, push for closing the primaries and to do party registration, and to support the Republican Platform in its entirety. Anderson County is my home, and I believe that conservative values is what makes our area great! As your next State Executive Committeeman, I will work to grow the Republican Party make sure our conservative values are upheld! I look forward to meeting with y’all, and I hope I can earn your vote in the August 6th Election!

What is the Tennessee Republican State Executive Committee? What do they do? Why does it matter?

The State Executive Committee helps guide the direction of the Republican Party in Tennessee. SEC members represent Republicans from their district at the state level and help make important decisions involving party rules, leadership, conventions, candidate qualifications, grassroots growth, and the future of our party.

This role has a voice in:
🇺🇸 Party leadership
🇺🇸 Rules and bylaws
🇺🇸 Supporting Republican candidates
🇺🇸 Protecting conservative values
🇺🇸 Helping county parties grow and succeed
🇺🇸 Representing local Republicans at the state level

The SEC helps to ensure the Republican Party stays strong, organized, and focused on the people it represents.

We have 4 candidates, two men and two women, running to represent District 5:

Zach Farrar
Lucas Heaton

Amy Poteet
Sherri Garrett

One of each will be voted on to represent District 5.

We will take some time this week and educate you on who they are…in their own words.
