Milling Around The Square : The People of Clinton π
"My name is Felicia Lamb, and I am the owner of Country Threads Boutique. It is a ladiesβ shop that specializes in personalization, gifts, womenβs clothing, and accessories. Sampson County has always been home to me. I grew up in a small town called Harrells, North Carolina, but I have lived around the Clinton area for most of my life. I was also a teacher, and I taught at Butler Avenue and Sunset Avenue Schools, so I do have a lot of connections to Clinton. I (Country Threads) have been here for five years, and this June will make six years in Downtown Clinton.
The people are friendly. You have acquaintances and friends here who come in to socialize and talk with you. You do not always feel pressured to sell them something when they come in; everyone becomes a friend. I enjoy being around the people of this area because I have known them all my life. My parents have been friends with them, and my children have grown up with their children. It is just a great place to work and live.
I hope that I can continue to expand and grow. I want to bring in new things that are innovative and exciting for the people of Downtown Clinton. I hope that, as the years pass, my business will become even more profitable and inspire others to join Downtown Clinton. I am also hoping for more collaboration between businesses and downtown to make this an even greater place to live and work. We must reach more people so they will want to come visit Downtown Clinton and spend their money here! One thing that is different about Country Threads is the welcoming feeling; we always try to greet you at the door. We not only share the specials, but also other things going on, and we ask about your life β it is just a personal touch.
I like that old down-home feel β how boutiques and stores used to be. When you came in, you had someone there to help you. If you were looking for something, they knew exactly where it was. Employees were also able to look at you, know your size, and not have to guess.
I retired in 2024 after working 30 years in the school system, and then I went back. I need to have two or three things to do, so I work three days a week at the school. I enjoy being busy; I do not like to be idle.
Our job at Country Threads is to make sure you are comfortable with your purchase and that every expectation you have is met."
Stop in and visit Tuesday- Saturday (10am-6pm)!
