The Clinton Police Department would like to congratulate all of this year’s graduates on reaching this important milestone. Your hard work, dedication, and perseverance have paid off, and we are proud of each of you.

We would also like to thank our community, school officials, faculty, staff, families, and everyone involved in making today’s graduation ceremony a memorable and successful event. It was a wonderful celebration of the accomplishments of these young men and women.

Today, we remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Their courage and dedication secured the freedoms we enjoy every day, and we will never forget the price that was paid.

As you spend time with family and friends this Memorial Day, please take a moment to reflect on those heroes and the Gold Star families who continue to carry their memory.

🚨 TRAFFIC ADVISORY 🚨

The Clinton Police Department is advising motorists that traffic on West Carolina Avenue (Hwy 76) is being rerouted from Bell Street to the intersection of Laurens Street and Gary Street due to roadway issues in the area.

This section of the roadway will likely remain closed for most of the evening. Motorists are asked to use alternate routes and avoid the area until further notice.

Please use caution, follow all posted detours, and expect delays while crews work to address the situation. We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation.

The Clinton Police Department is currently investigating a shooting that occurred at 730 W. Main St.

A victim was transported from the scene, and the vehicle they were traveling in later crashed near Laurens County Hospital on Hwy. 76. The gunshot victim was subsequently flown to another hospital for treatment.

These remain active crime scenes at this time.

Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the Line of Duty Death involving a member of the Greenwood Police Department. Please keep the officer’s family, friends, and the entire Greenwood PD family in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

The law enforcement community is a brotherhood and sisterhood that stands together in times of tragedy. We honor the sacrifice made in service to others and stand alongside our fellow officers in Greenwood.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of retired Lieutenant Chris Moore.

Lt. Moore dedicated 25 years of service to the Clinton Police Department, serving with distinction on patrol and as a School Resource Officer supervisor. Throughout his career, he was a steady leader, a mentor to many, and a trusted friend to those who had the privilege to work alongside him.

His impact on this department and this community will not be forgotten. The legacy he leaves behind lives on in the officers he guided and the lives he helped shape.

Please keep Lt. Moore’s family in your prayers during this difficult time.

Julie Freeze was last seen on May 3, 2026, at approximately 3:00 AM in the area of Oak Street Circle in the City of Clinton.
