Welcome home to the crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Alert (WMEC 630)! After a 45-day patrol in the Windward Passage, Caribbean Sea, and Eastern Pacific Ocean, the Alert has returned to its homeport in Cape Canaveral, Florida.

We’re incredibly proud of the crew’s success in seizing 2,250 pounds of co***ne and seven pounds of ma*****na, valued at more than $18.4 million, a significant blow to narco-terrorism. Their dedication to protecting our nation’s borders is truly commendable, especially with the time spent away from their families.

Beyond their counter-drug mission, the crew also supported Operation Vigilant Sentry to deter illegal migration, hosted the U.S. Ambassador to Panama, and conducted joint training with Panama’s National Aeronaval Service (SENAN). They also earned the rare title of “shellback” after crossing the equator!

At the beginning of December, following a 9-week inport, the crew of CGC ALERT departed for patrol. The crew successfully completed an engine inspection involving a compressive teardown of both our main diesel engines, prepped and painted the deck of our fantail as well as countless other areas throughout the ship, prepared our bridge and communications equipment. In addition the crew found time to promote 3 members. The crew participated in the MWR Halloween 5k sweeping the podium in all categories! We were very lucky to have the amazing hospitality of the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station and Navy Ordnance Test Unit. ALERT'S crew worked hard to ensure ALERT remained mission ready for her patrol.

One of the Coast Guard's longest traditions is the Cutterman's pin ceremony! After having at least 5 years of sea time, members are eligible for the permanent pin.

Last week, LT Hunley received her Cutterman's pin in front of CGC Alert's crew!

Members of our crew were also recognized for achieving one year of sea time! Congratulations to everyone who received an award.

Greetings from Cape Canaveral, Florida!

Our crew is excited to engage with our new community. This month, we have partnered with Keep Brevard Beautiful, Inc. to conduct a beach cleanup! As you can see, our crew was effective, and morale was high!

Also, congratulations to our sailor of the 3rd quarter, BM1 Braga. He is recognized for his contributions to the cutter’s readiness and success! His dedication to his work goes above and beyond the Coast Guard values!
