Placer County Sheriff's Office

The Placer County Sheriff’s Honor Guard and the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office Honor Guard, along with honor guard teams from other local law enforcement agencies, met at the Sacramento Airport on Monday to pick up the United States Honor Flag for the funeral of EDSO Deputy Brian Ishmael. We put together this small tribute video for EDSO in honor of their fallen deputy.

The U.S. Honor Flag is an American flag that travels all over the country to honor those killed in the line of duty in law enforcement, fire and the military.

The U.S. Honor Flag began shortly after the attacks on September 11th, 2001. Chris Heisler took the flag with him as he led the largest convoy of first responders in U.S. history to Ground Zero. The flag briefly flew over the remains of the twin towers and Heisler was encouraged by a survivor to keep the flag and continue to inspire Americans. Heisler carried the flag with him as he served in the military in Iraq and Afghanistan. Upon his return, the U.S. Honor Flag began its mission to travel the country and honor fallen heroes. You can read more about the Honor Flag at https://ushonorflag.org/our-story/.
