Last Thursday marked a successful and memorable Senior Dining-In for Texas A&M Army ROTC seniors. This annual tradition brings the graduating cadets together one final time before they transition into their roles as U.S. Army Second Lieutenants. The evening provides an opportunity to reflect on their experiences over the past four years while also looking ahead to their future careers.
A highlight of the event is the symbolic “grog,” a shared drink composed of various ingredients, each representing an element of Texas A&M’s history or meaningful moments and traditions from their time in the program. The seniors also enjoyed a formal dinner and heard from a guest speaker, BG Guy M. Jones, who offered valuable insight and guidance drawn from their own experiences.
As graduation and commissioning approach, the Senior Dining-In serves as an important milestone, celebrating both accomplishments and the transition into military service. Best of luck to these cadets as they step forward to serve as Second Lieutenants in the United States Army.

With the semester quickly coming to a close, Charlie Company wrapped up a successful Field Training Exercise (FTX) at Camp Bullis. Over the course of several days, Cadets executed a wide range of training events, including land navigation and multiple tactical lanes such as movement to contact, raids, ambushes, and deliberate attacks. To culminate the FTX, they completed a 12-mile timed ruck, demonstrating both their physical endurance and mental toughness.
These training events provided valuable opportunities for Cadets to build confidence while sharpening their tactical proficiency, communication, planning, and ability to make decisive actions under pressure.
Charlie Company has put in significant effort throughout the year, and this FTX served as the final milestone in closing out the semester on a strong, positive note. Their dedication during weekly labs and continuous training has helped shape them into capable and confident leaders.
While this marks the end of the semester, their journey is far from over. This summer, these Cadets will attend Advanced Camp, where they will continue to develop their skills and demonstrate the leadership and proficiency they have gained at Texas A&M University.
Best of luck this summer at Advanced Camp!

Alpha and Bravo Company wrapped up a strong Field Training Exercise (FTX) this past weekend, pushing their skills and confidence to the next level. As these Cadets prepare to advance, whether becoming sophomores or moving into Charlie Company as juniors, they carry forward the lessons learned in the field.

During FTX, Cadets executed movements to contact, raids, and deliberate attack lanes, sharpening their tactical proficiency through communication, planning, and decisive action. Another step forward in developing our future Army officers.

This past Monday, Army ROTC held the Combat Water Survival Test (CWST) for contracted Cadets. The CWST evaluates Cadets’ essential water survival skills, including treading water, swimming 50 meters with a rifle, removing individual equipment while submerged, and jumping into water from 10 meters high. All events are monitored to ensure trainees are safe and complete the event with control and composure. Great job to the Cadets who completed the CWST!

This past weekend was a great success for Army ROTC Cadets. Freshmen (MSIs) and sophomores (MSIIs) traveled to RELLIS to practice zeroing and qualifying with their weapons, while also learning how to properly disassemble, reassemble, and operate the M240 weapon system.

Juniors (MSIIIs) traveled to Fort Hood for a well-rounded day of training—from range qualification to learning how to properly apply a tourniquet. They made the most of their time and sharpened valuable skills that will serve them in their future as Army Officers.

Overall, the weekend was a success across all MS levels, as Cadets continued preparing themselves for their future careers.

Our freshmen (MS1s) and sophomores (MS2s) took on the challenge of the Leadership Reaction Course. They worked in their squads (5 to 8 people) and tackled each obstacle with communication, leadership, and grit, helping build that team bond that is necessary to work and trust each other. Cadets tackled notoriously challenging obstacles like the Demolition Man, Cliffhanger, Tank Trap, O-Course Ropes, Out Like Flint, Bosnian Bridge, Medical Supply, and Baghdad Sewers. From problem-solving under pressure to pushing through the physical barriers, these cadets showed what it means to trust the squad and execute the mission. Good work, MS1s and MS2s.

Last Friday, the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets Norwegian Foot March took place. This event was open to any individual and was a great opportunity for all cadets across the quad to get out and enjoy an early morning foot march. The Norwegian is a 30-kilometer or 18.6-mile timed foot march. Those who participate in the Norwegian carry 25 lb rucksacks the entire way. All participants must complete the course in under 4.5 to 5.5 hours, depending on age. Those who completed the Norwegian and meet all requirements are awarded the Marsjmerket (Norwegian Foot March Badge).

This event was coordinated by Texas A&M Army ROTC’s Cadet Battalion Command Sergeant Major, Ryn Strittmatter. This was the first large-scale Texas A&M Corps of Cadets Norwegian Foot March. Congratulations to all of those who participated, and to Cadet Strittmatter for bringing this opportunity to Texas A&M.
