🚨📞 Dispatcher Appreciation Week📞🚨

As National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week comes to a close, we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the incredible emergency dispatchers who support PCT 3 every single day.

From the first call for help to the final unit clearing the scene, dispatchers are there—calm, focused, and always in control. They are the unseen lifeline between our community and first responders, providing critical information, coordinating resources, and helping bring order to chaos.

Their voices provide reassurance in moments of fear, and their dedication never goes unnoticed by those of us on the other end of the radio.

To our dispatchers: thank you for your professionalism, your resilience, and your commitment to serving our community. We are proud to serve alongside you! 💛🚒

🚒 Training Recap 🚒

This week, our members focused on mastering the fundamentals of proper hose handling. Our duty crew practiced securing reliable water sources and establishing flowing water for fire operations.

Thursday night’s training brought some fun with “hose bowling” while members learned the correct way to roll fire hoses—not just for storage, but to improve efficiency on the fireground.

Members also practiced various techniques for managing a charged hoseline. For many of our Fire Academy Cadets, it was their first chance to operate a charged hoseline, flow water, and practice hose advancement. These hands-on trainings help cadets grow into skilled firefighters, while allowing our seasoned firefighters the opportunity to sharpen their skills and reinforce crucial muscle memory.

In the fire service, muscle memory is key—it’s what keeps us calm and effective when every second counts. 💪🔥

After careful consideration, PCT 3 is proud to announce our newest firefighting tool: the Tactical Water Balloon Deployment System.

Program testing shows it is highly effective for rapid cooling of fires and friendly station competitions.

Recent training included advanced techniques such as “precision balloon tossing” and “strategic splash suppression.”

Instructors report that members demonstrated outstanding aim and excellent teamwork during these drills.

Local residents should not be alarmed if they see firefighters practicing with buckets of balloons in the coming weeks.

For safety reasons, helmets and turnout gear are still required during all balloon deployment exercises.

Our training coordinator confirms that this system drastically improves morale and laughter across the station.

Official certification will include levels such as Balloon Technician, Senior Splash Operator, and Master Water Balloon Commander.

Local officials have confirmed that the system is highly effective at soaking unsuspecting firefighters.

Stay safe, have a great April Fools’ Day, and remember—training never stops… even when it’s a little silly!

🚒PCT 3 Training Update! 🚒

PCT 3 members recently participated in vehicle extrication training. Our senior firefighters spent time sharpening their skills, while our Fire Academy cadets learned the best methods for accessing patients and stabilizing vehicles. Crews practiced stabilization, glass management, and patient access techniques to safely remove occupants from a vehicle involved in a simulated crash.

Training like this ensures that when real emergencies happen, our firefighters are prepared to work quickly, efficiently, and safely to protect our community.

A big thank you to everyone who came out and put in the time to train and improve their skills. 🚒

🚒Push-In Ceremony🚒

Please join us as we officially welcome our newest apparatus into service with a traditional push-in ceremony at 10AM this Saturday, February 21st!

The push-in ceremony dates back to the days of horse-drawn fire apparatus. After returning from a call, firefighters would unhitch the horses and physically push the engine back into the station by hand to prepare it for the next response.

While we no longer use horse-drawn apparatus — and today’s trucks can be backed into the station with ease — departments continue this long-standing tradition as a symbolic gesture. It honors those who came before us, recognizes the rich history of the fire service, and reflects our continued dedication to caring for the equipment that serves and protects our community.

We look forward to sharing this special moment with our firefighters, families, and the community we are honored to serve. We hope to see you there!
