Aggie Guide Dogs and Service Dogs

Aggie Guide Dogs and Service Dogs AGS is a student-run organization at Texas A&M University. Our purpose is to educate about, fundraise for, and promote the training and use of service dogs.

Founded in 1997, AGS is Texas A&M's original service dog training organization. Founded in 1997, AGS is not only the original service dog training organization of Texas A&M, but the first one of its kind in the country. The main goals of AGS are to train puppies to become service dogs, fundraise for these service dogs, and educate the public about service dogs. With the help of Puppy Raisers, pupp

ies learn how to obey and behave in public places, as well as commands unique to service dogs. We do not directly place our dogs, but donate them to nationally recognized organizations upon completion of their phase 1 training where they complete their phase two training and are placed with their forever partner. We primarily train mobility assistance and PTSD dogs.

Congratulations Ember and Mishika!

Last week Ember (Wilma) was handed off to head back to in Florida to complete her second phase of training. We are so proud of all that this trainer team accomplished! “Ember is the smartest and most hardworking dog! I’m so grateful to have gotten the opportunity to raise and train her, and know she’s going to be so amazing in the future. I hope she brings a smile to everyone’s face and I will always be cheering her on!”

Congratulations Kodama and Layla!

This weekend Kodama was handed off to head back to in Colorado to complete his second phase of training. This duo accomplished so much together and we couldn’t be more proud! With their hard work and dedication, Kodama was able to leave with 3 CGC titles and full privileges. Kodama, we know you’ve already made so many friends in Colorado and we can’t wait to see the lives you continue to change for the better!

“Kodama is the best dog to train that I could’ve asked for. Saying goodbye was hard, but I know he’s going to rock it in his future and really help someone in need. I’m so honored to have been part of his journey, and can’t wait to see how far he goes. Change lives, sweet boy, you’ve got it!” -Layla

🐾✨Senior Spotlight✨🐾

Howdy! I’m a senior in Biomedical Engineering! I joined AGS in Fall 2022 and I am Ember’s trainer! My plan after graduation is to apply to Med School and shadow surgeons! My advice is to cherish your time in AGS; go to PT outings and spend time with the dogs/make friends!
