What Does a Democracy Builder Do?
Democracy Builders take on one of the most important roles in the movement. You become the bridge between your community and our movement. Democracy Builders are responsible for connecting at least three times over the next year with 35-50 voters who live in your community. You will help your community get involved and elect Democrats. From family, friends, coworkers, and neighbors, your role is to get them connected, informed, and engaged with the Democratic Party.
That means:
• Making sure folks are registered and ready to vote
• Sharing news about upcoming elections and issues
• Inviting people to events, training, and volunteer opportunities
• Being the go-to Democratic contact in your circles
We’ll give you the tools, support, and training. You bring the passion.

Why It Matters
South Carolina has thousands of Democrats, people who care about healthcare, jobs, education, and justice, but the problem is they’ve never been asked to get involved. As a Democracy Builder, you’ll be the one who asks.
When you help connect your community to the party, you’re not just building a stronger campaign; you’re building a better future for your neighborhood, your county, and your state.
How You’ll Be Supported
When you sign up, we’ll provide:
• A list of 35-50 voters in your community
• Training & resources to get started
• Regular check-ins with the organizing staff
• Toolkits & talking points for outreach
• Recognition for your work

Elections Details:
• December 23, 2025: Special Elections for State House Districts 21 and 88, and State Senate District 12.
o Senate District 12 Candidates: Hope Blackley (R), Justin Bradley (R), Lee Bright (R).
o House District 21 Candidates: Reggy Batson (R), Dianne Mitchell (R), Steve Nail (R), Jack Stott (R).
o House District 88 Candidates: Brian Duncan (R), Lorelei Graye (R), J. Chuck Hightower (D), John Lastinger (R), Darren E. Rogers St. (R).
• January 6, 2026: Special Election for State House District 98.
o Candidates: Damian Daly (D), Greg Ford (R), Brian Hill (R), David Johnston (R), Stephen Kohn (D), Sonja Ogletree-Satani (D).
• February/March 2026: Special Primary Elections for local offices are also happening, such as the one for Clarendon County Council District 2, with a primary on March 10, 2026
