We want to recognize and thank the Columbia Police Department, along with the local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies involved in the recent operation targeting illegal gambling activities in our community.
This operation was not something that came together overnight. It was the result of months of investigative work, coordination, and cooperation among multiple law enforcement agencies. The ex*****on of search warrants, seizure of significant amounts of cash, and removal of illegal gambling machines demonstrates the seriousness of the investigation and the professionalism of those involved.
As Chairman of the Maury County Republican Party, I believe strongly in the rule of law and in supporting the men and women who are entrusted with enforcing it. Our citizens deserve communities where laws are applied fairly and consistently, and where illegal operations are investigated and addressed appropriately.
We are especially thankful that this large-scale operation was carried out safely and without harm to the officers or members of the public involved.
We commend the Columbia Police Department and its law enforcement partners for their diligence and professionalism. As these cases now move through the criminal justice system, those accused should be afforded due process, and the evidence should determine the outcome.
Keeping Maury County safe requires cooperation, accountability, and respect for the law. We appreciate the men and women who work every day toward that goal.
