A town hall meeting in The Village of Shadyside was held at the request of newly elected Mayor Mike Meintel to ensure the community maintains open dialogue and strong relationships with elected officials.

I valued the opportunity to participate, and many important topics were discussed. I also appreciated the media covering the event, as smaller communities can sometimes feel that their voices are not being heard.

I appreciated the opportunity to participate in a diverse and well-informed panel at the Ohio Innovation and Technology Association (OITA) summit on artificial intelligence and innovation.

I welcome the opportunity to speak to groups or individuals to share what we have learned from the Select Joint Data Center Committee. I truly believe accurate information leads to better critical thought and pragmatic conversations.

The Noble County Farm Bureau annual meeting was a great opportunity to spend time with Representative Ty Moore, the county commissioners, and the great members of the Noble Farm Bureau community. The food was great and the conversations were even better.

I recently attended a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) technical meeting focused on our regional grid, managed by PJM.

I was impressed with the candid nature of the meeting seeking pragmatic conversations and solution paths. The technical and regulatory nuances at the federal level can be daunting, which reinforces the importance of focusing on what we can effectively manage and improve here within Ohio.

In addition to the technical meeting, I had the opportunity to spend time on Capitol Hill meeting with members of our outstanding Ohio delegation. I’m grateful for the thoughtful conversations and continued partnership.

I cannot emphasize enough my respect for the sacrifice and dedication of the volunteers in these departments, who serve as critical first responders throughout the district. That respect was reinforced during a recent evening spent visiting with several of the good folks in Morgan County at the ribbon cutting for a new engine bay at the Chesterhill Volunteer Fire Department.

A 30-minute talk turned into more than an hour when State Representative Adam Holmes and I recently addressed a meeting of the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB Ohio).

Data centers were the topic, and Holmes and I were able to share information we learned during nearly 30 hours of testimony before the Select Joint Data Center Committee. We continue to hear many of the same concerns, and we believe Ohio is in a position to address them.

Ohio is home to more than 220 data centers, with some dating back nearly 20 years. We need to continue having thoughtful, pragmatic conversations about this issue and others that impact our state.

It was an honor to be recognized, along with State Representative Adam Holmes, by the National Society of Professional Engineers – Ohio Chapter (NSPE-OH) as Legislators of the Year. My understanding is that the Ohio Society of Professional Engineers is very discerning in its selections, which makes this recognition especially meaningful. Representative Holmes and I both work in the field of engineering and deeply appreciate this recognition from such a distinguished group.

I was truly honored to be the keynote speaker at the annual Ohio Gas Association - OGA dinner. Instead of a speech, I provided more of a conversational address, mixed with personal stories and information on topics from natural gas, to global interactions, to data centers. With questions afterwards I believe insight into state efforts and the vision for larger regional initiatives was beneficial to the group.

Over four inches of rain in 40 mins caused some severe localized flooding in Jefferson County. I appreciate the tremendous efforts of the hardworking township crews and local officials to work tirelessly to keep everyone safe and get cleanup and repairs as quickly as possible. Long term repairs are still needed and I am working with local and state officials to coordinate wherever possible.

It was a hot day with a lot of great people at the Washington County Fourth of July picnic.

I had the duty of serving smoked corn, having never had it smoked before, I can say I’m a big fan of the added flavor.
