National Nonprofit Day is a reminder of just how much community work happens every single day, often behind the scenes.

At Greater Columbus Community House, that work looks like helping families access food, giving children a strong start through early learning, creating opportunities for youth, supporting seniors, helping families stay stable, and connecting neighbors to resources they can count on.

Each year, more than 24,000 Franklin County residents receive direct services through GCCH. And behind that number are thousands of individual stories, families, and neighbors who are able to access support because this work exists.

If you’re looking for a way to celebrate National Nonprofit Day, consider supporting the organizations doing the work right here in your community. A one-time gift or monthly donation helps GCCH continue showing up all year long.

107 years. A lot of history. 💚 Swipe through for a look back at some of the people, programs, and moments that helped shape St. Stephen’s Community House into Greater Columbus Community House.

From youth programs and senior gatherings to food access, early learning, health resources, recreation, and everything in between, this organization has spent generations showing up for Columbus.

In 2026, that story entered a new chapter with a new name, but the heart of the work remains the same.

As we celebrate 107 years, we’re honoring where we’ve been and looking forward to what comes next.

A special thank-you to Columbus Metropolitan Library and its local history resources for helping us share some of the historical images featured in this post. 💚

Dinner, games, music, a photobooth, and a room full of personality. Our 2026 Senior Mixer was a whole lot of fun. 🖤

About 50 seniors joined us for an evening filled with good food, big laughs, dancing, photos, and time together. Our community partners were also there to share helpful resources and help make the evening even more meaningful.

A huge thank you to Legal Aid of Southeast and Central Ohio - LASCO, Columbus State Community College, and the Linden Anti-Violence Team for showing up for our seniors and helping us create a night that felt joyful, welcoming, and full of community.
