Great news! The City of Columbus - WI contractor was able to complete the scheduled water main work ahead of schedule. As a result, residents in the Ludington St/School St area will NOT have their water shut off today as previously anticipated. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue working to improve our city's critical infrastructure.

The City’s contractor will be closing the intersection of School Street and Ludington Street (STH 73) on the morning of August 17th to replace the existing water main and valves located in the intersection and asphalt pave. The closure will last for approximately 5 days, and the intersection will reopen by the close of business on Friday, August 21st. A detour route will be in place utilizing Fuller and Dix Streets. Please follow the posted detour and avoid this intersection so the contractor can complete the work in a timely and safe manner.

Columbus utilities has located a water main break on the 300 block of W. Harrison St. Customers on the 200 & 300 block of W Harrison, and 100 & 200 block of S Spring will have no water service available at this time.

Repair efforts have started.

Once water pressure has been reestablished, be prepared for some discoloration in your water. It is advised to let your faucet run until the water runs clear.

We will provide an update of the situation.

Water service has been restored to the below effected area. Please remove aerators and flush water!

The water main break at School St. and S. Dickason Blvd. has been repaired.
Water pressure has been restored to the homes in the impacted area.
If you have discolored water, please let the faucet run until clear.

The Columbus Utilities has a water main break at School St. and S. Dickason Blvd.
The problem has been located and is being repaired.

The City of Columbus is issuing a public safety advisory regarding severe inclement weather predicted to impact our area starting this afternoon, Wednesday, June 10, and continuing through Thursday, June 11.

Critical Safety Hazards:
o Downed Power lines: Treat all downed lines as live and highly dangerous.
o Maintain Distance: stay at least 35 feet away from any downed lines.
o Immediate Reporting: Call 911 or the Columbus Utilities Office immediately to report downed lines
o Avoid Standing Water: Do not walk or drive through flooded areas, as hidden downed line may energize the water.

Columbus Utilities crews are starting their routine yearly flushing program where they are required to flush hydrants throughout the city per the DNR. Where the crews will be flushing there will be water running down the gutter and flowing into the streets. Customers may see some rusty looking water.
