He may very well become a great superintendent but It’s very disappointing that this board decided to hire anyone so fast without no community input and absolutely no effort put into looking for the best candidates. Maybe those that aren’t running for re election wanted to make sure that they chose the new Superintendent and not the next board.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg School Board named Acting Superintendent Earnest Winston the permanent leader, and gave him a three-year contract Friday. The move followed the resignation of Clayton Wilcox

Schools need to do more than offer English, Math, Science and Social Studies. Financial literacy is important as well as certifications to go straight into the workforce.
Side note: learning our history and how government works is vitally important and shouldn’t be cut out for more English and Math.

North Carolina legislators have passed a bill making it a graduation requirement for high school students to complete a personal finance class. Some teachers complain that a U.S. history course will be cut.
