Please stay weather aware today. Heavy rain is moving into Montgomery County, and overnight these same bands of rain produced flash flooding across portions of Central Texas.

Our office is actively monitoring conditions and coordinating with our weather partners. A Flood Watch remains in effect for our area and we will provide updates as necessary.

Remember: Turn Around, Don’t Drown. Never drive through flooded roadways.

A Flood Watch has been issued for all of Montgomery County through Wednesday morning.

The combination of a frontal boundary and increased tropical moisture associated with a disturbance in the northwestern Gulf will bring the potential for periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms from this afternoon through Wednesday.

Our office is actively monitoring conditions with assistance from the National Weather Service, which has a meteorologist assigned to our Emergency Operations Center today. We remain in close coordination with our local, regional, and state partners and are prepared to respond should conditions worsen.

Residents are encouraged to remain weather aware, monitor trusted forecast sources, and never drive through flooded roadways.

If additional watches, warnings, or significant forecast updates are issued, we will share that information as quickly as possible.

We are proud to support Houston OEM and FIFA World Cup 26 Houston by providing portable air-conditioned tents to help visitors stay cool during outdoor festivities.

As a reminder, hurricane season is now underway.

While there is currently only a low (10%) chance of tropical development in the Bay of Campeche later this week or into the weekend, forecasters are monitoring the remnants of former Eastern Pacific Tropical Storm Cristina as it moves across Mexico and Central America.

Our office is closely monitoring this system for any additional development, as well as the potential for increased tropical moisture across our region. Combined with a weak frontal boundary approaching Southeast Texas, this could enhance rain chances over the coming days.

At this time, there is no cause for concern, but it serves as a good reminder that hurricane season has begun and preparedness should remain a priority.

We will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as necessary. Stay weather aware.

While there are currently no known cases of New World Screwworm (NWS) in Montgomery County or any surrounding counties, vigilance and precaution remain our best tools to prevent its spread.

Livestock owners, ranchers, and pet owners should keep a watchful eye on their animals and routinely inspect them for wounds or signs of infection. While you are unlikely to see an adult New World Screwworm fly, you are much more likely to discover the larvae (maggots) that infest an animal’s wound.

Early detection is critical. If you observe unusual wounds, maggots, or suspect an animal may be infected with New World Screwworm, contact your veterinarian immediately and report your concerns to the Texas Animal Health Commission.

By staying informed and remaining vigilant, we can help keep Montgomery County’s livestock, pets, wildlife, and agricultural industry safe from this devastating pest.

Our office is currently on scene assisting Caney Creek Fire Department, The Woodlands Fire Department Hazmat Team, and Conroe Fire Department Hazmat Team with a container fire incident.

To support operations, we have deployed the Mobile Operations Center, Montgomery County Rehab Unit, and our portable restroom trailer to assist with incident command and firefighter rehabilitation efforts.

There is no threat to the public but Koalstead Road in the 12000 block remains closed due to the response.

We appreciate the hard work and dedication of all responding agencies working together to ensure a safe and effective response.

Yesterday, our office was requested to support Texas Search and Rescue (TEXSAR) as they assisted local law enforcement agencies with a mission assignment. Our team deployed the Special Operations Vehicle to serve as an on-site command post, along with a bathroom trailer to support personnel operating in the field.

We are proud to provide logistical support to our partners who work tirelessly behind the scenes in support of search, rescue, and recovery operations. Organizations like TEXSAR play a critical role in assisting our office and local public safety agencies during complex incidents, and we are always ready to provide resources when called upon.

Over the past week, our office, along with Montgomery County 911, South Montgomery County Fire Department, Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office, Montgomery County ESD 3, Montgomery County Hospital District, The Woodlands Fire Department, and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, hosted the annual Junior First Responder Camp.

A group of lucky students spent the week immersed in emergency management and first responder operations across Montgomery County. This unique summer program gives teens the opportunity to learn firsthand about the critical work performed by emergency managers, firefighters, law enforcement officers, dispatchers, EMS personnel, and other public safety professionals while receiving hands-on training and experience.

Programs like this help inspire the next generation of public servants and provide valuable insight into the many career paths available in public safety.

A special thank you to all of the agencies, instructors, volunteers, and staff who dedicated their time to making this year’s camp a success. We are proud to invest in the future of emergency services and look forward to seeing what these young leaders accomplish.
