The Skokie Farmers' Market Produce Initiative is seeking volunteers! 🌽 Volunteers are needed each Sunday this summer to help bring leftover produce to the Skokie Food Pantry. In 2019 the initiative helped rescue over 6,000 lbs of donated produce from the Skokie Farmer's Market and get it in the hands of our local Food Pantry patrons.

Niles Township Government is now able to step up even more to help those struggling to pay back rent because of hardships caused by COVID-19 — thanks to an exciting new partnership with Niles Township High School District 219!

If you face challenges paying for your housing because of the pandemic, please reach out to Niles Township as soon as possible: (847) 673-9300. More information is available at www.nilestownshipgov.com. The timing could not be more ideal with the state’s eviction moratorium due to end Saturday.

Through its COVID-19 Fund the Township created last year, we already helped some 250 people financially impacted since March, 2020. We’re now able to do even more because of our great partnership with District 219. We can support more eligible people and provide GREATER help including paying full back rent so those who have been struggling gain a fresh new start.

The new funding is open to eligible families with children who attend District 219. But even if your child does not go to District 219, the Township may be able to help. The new funding will free up other COVID-19 funds for other purposes.

Thank you District 219! This intergovernmental agreement, which also includes funds for the Township to provide child care support and for our Food Pantry, is a great reflection of how special this community is — and how we work together to help our neighbors when times are toughest.
