Data centers bring noise pollution, drain water supplies, and increase power costs. We need a plan to address these issues. This plan will require county wide zoning and zoning within our incorporated towns. Zoning rules can require set back lines to reduce noise pollution exposure to neighborhoods and livestock farms, protect water supplies, and require data centers to bear the full cost of additional power demands. 52% of Tennessee is zoned. Putnam County is not zoned outside city limits. Your solution suggestions are valued. Let’s work together to find a solution.

Noise pollution may be reaching dangerous levels for residents living near the Memphis-Mississippi border. This area of split governance is the home of Elon Musk’s xAI data center campus that runs Grok, the artificial intelligence chatbot for the social platform X. Once called the “world’s big...

I have talked about my stances on numerous policies and controversial topics.

I have talked about the reasons why I decided to run for office.

There were also many private conversations in my own household leading up to announcing my run for office. I am a husband. I am a father of four children.

Ultimately, these are two monumental reasons why I chose to run.

I want a better future for my children.

Three are in public schools currently. My wife is an educator in the Public School System. My oldest son is navigating adulthood with the local economical and workforce concerns.

I want them to not only survive, but thrive. I want their government to work for them; to have security in education, healthcare, finances, jobs and to be able to live in a world where everyone is protected.

I want that for my children, your children, and generations of children to come.

Shayne Bilbrey, Brendan Laney, and I are learning a lot at our “government boot camp” training program. The link below is just one of many PowerPoint presentations that support our training! Our first County Commission Meeting will be held on Monday, September 21! Hope to see you there!

I am humbled and honored to serve the Putnam County citizens of District 2 as their newly elected County Commissioner. I am so thankful to the great many of you who have offered your support and words of encouragement throughout this journey. I would also like to add that, though some might wish for a divisive narrative, the overall tone among all those who ran in my district was positive and friendly from the very beginning and every public interaction with any candidate and their family members was always kind. This is what true leadership should be and I wish nothing less than the very best for each of them. Looking forward, I promise to work with all of our county’s leaders to help Putnam County be the best version of itself and to be a place every person loves calling home. I will ask questions that should be asked, and I will report to my constituents on a regular basis as I believe this is an essential part of transparent leadership. My sincerest thanks to everyone who helped me attain this honor. I’m proud to serve Putnam!

Sincerely,
Stacye Choate

Early voting continues this week, with the last day being Saturday, August 1! This election cycle has proven that we need leaders who not only are capable of making sound decisions, but also can be kind, reasonable, and capable of working with everyone in the room. Having adults in the room to work together peacefully and responsibly is going to be the only way we can move forward for Putnam County. I would appreciate your vote as I attempt to move us in this direction as your next District 2 County Commissioner! Thanks to all who have voted thus far! August 6 is Election Day at Northeast Elementary School with doors opened at 9 AM.
