Friends & Family - After the election, I took a short break from social media and public life to decompress, relax, meditate, refocus, and reengage. Upon this New Year, I submitted myself to deep reflection on 2018 - a year that began with the tremendous loss of my grandfather (a pivotal role model in my life), led me to one of the greatest adventures of my professional life (running for elected office), and ultimately allowed me to cultivate and strengthen so many great friendships and relationships. This break has taught me to appreciate the journey, to always trust in Him, and, specifically, that we don’t learn by doing, but rather by reflecting on what we have done. Upon meditation, I’ve realized we should always mirror that which we seek, for me that is to love and be honest. Throughout this journey, I have been able to meet and surround myself, with truly amazing people - many of which have taught me invaluable lessons of friendship and loyalty, morality and faith - and all of which have led me to the place where I find myself today. More, I am eternally grateful for the literally hundreds of people who have reached out after the election cycle - and have asked me to run again for the same or other position. Your trust, confidence and friendships fuel my devotion and commitment to our community and residents. For I have come to understand that true leadership does not come with a position or title, but rather action and example. Our goal should never defined by how important we can become, but rather it should be defined and judged by the impact and difference we can make in other people’s lives. I challenge you all - family and friends - to make this year count, to care for yourselves and be the change you want to see in this world, but to never forget the unspoken and unwritten obligation we owe to our neighbor: spreading kindness, love and charity. Announcement coming soon... stay tuned. @ Miami, Florida
