After 30 years of dedicated service to the Corning Police Department and our community, Chief Craig Bassett is retiring.

Over the years, Chief Bassett has led with integrity, dedication, and a genuine commitment to the people of Corning. His leadership, guidance, and care for both the department and community have left a lasting impact, and his presence will be greatly missed.

As Chief Bassett begins this well-earned new chapter, we thank him for his years of service and wish him nothing but the best in retirement.

Effective June 7, Sergeant Eduardo Curiel will step into the role of Chief of Police. Having worked closely alongside Chief Bassett for many years, Chief Curiel is ready to continue the strong leadership, values, and commitment that have long been part of the Corning Police Department.

Please join us in thanking Chief Bassett for his 30 years of service and congratulating the next Chief, Eduardo Curiel, as he takes on this new role.

Future K9 officer in training 🐾🚔

Quinn and Lucas had an unforgettable visit with Ghost today!

Quinn was completely inspired and says she wants to become a K9 officer when she grows up. Lucas loved every second too — especially getting to spend time with Ghost, asking questions, and soaking in all the excitement right alongside his sister.

Watching the two of them connect with Ghost and learn about the incredible work K9 teams do was something really special. Big dreams, big smiles, and a day they definitely won’t forget. 💙🐶
