We have decided, since the state is slowly opening things back up again, that May 31 will be the last date that we will be doing birthday parades. We have enjoyed being part of your children’s birthday celebrations through this trying time, and thank you for all of your support! Thank your for your understanding

Thank you to Iowa Select Farms for your recognition!

In light of Covid-19, individuals and families have found unique ways to celebrate birthdays, weddings and graduations. Drive by parades have become a way to spread positivity during a time of uncertainty and something the Corning Fire Department has been participating in regularly.

"While nothing compares to the joy that friends and family can bring, it's nice to have a fire department provide a service of sirens and light shows that bring smiles to faces during these isolating times," said T'Lee Girard in her Helping the Helpers nomination. "I am so blessed to live in a community that is willing to improvise just to help make someone's birthday special."

Do you know an individual or organization like the Corning Fire Department that is stepping up to help others during Covid-19? We encourage you to nominate them for Helping the Helpers, a program of Iowa Select Farms and the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation that recognizes Covid-19 responders with a pork care package in the mail.

We have enjoyed being part of your child’s birthday celebration and encourage you to continue to ask for us to drive by! We would also encourage everyone that wants us to drive by give us a 24 hour advanced notice so we can get everything lined up for personnel. If we get asked with short notice we may ask to reschedule for the following day. Thank you for your understanding!!

Wednesday evening if anyone would like to come and be a part of this!

Wow, just wow! Adams and Taylor County EMS staff/volunteers reached out to us and requested the opportunity to ‘lift us in prayer’. The plan is in place and it will be Wednesday, April 22 at 6 p.m. Here is the plan they shared with us: EMS vehicles will be parked in front of the hospital and possibly on the southside. At 6 pm, Pastor Roed will begin the short prayer service of song, short message, prayer and song.

Parking your car and staying in it (that is a MUST!!):
1. Park on Rosary Drive
2. Park on the southside of clinic if EMS vehicles not there
3. Park north of new ambulance garage
4. Park on 6th Street coming up to the hospital
5. Last option: parking on west side of the hospital – you won’t be able to see or hear what is going on but will be there in spirit to support! BUT…..please do not park on the helipad marked in that lot
6. AND NO PARKING ON 8th Street. That is the street our emergency vehicles use.

Again, WOW! Our hospital was opened in 1951 as a faith based, mission driven hospital. We love it that others are praying for and with us! We are so grateful that our local EMS teams initiated this event and we are thankful to them and wanted to let others know about it.

With all of the quarantine going on we would like to help make one day special. If you’re kids birthday is coming up, we would like to help them celebrate by bringing them a light show! Drop us a message and we will bring a few trucks to your house and run our lights and sirens to celebrate your kids birthday!!!!

Edit: We can not go out of our fire district to do these. We apologize to anyone that would like this done and don’t hesitate to ask either! Ideally we would like to stay within a few mile of town so that, if we do have an emergency, we are still able to respond

The doors are down, all is quiet but we do stand ready. On Wednesday, March 25, at 7:00 pm ALL IOWA FIRE DEPARTMENTS are encouraged to open their doors and turn on the lights on their trucks as a sign of strength and hope for all. Hope for all who work daily in EMS, Fire and Law enforcement to be ready, strength for those working around the clock to provide care, those who strive to find the right medicine to help, those in the food/grocery industry to feed us and those trucking daily to keep us going.

You can do your part at home, too! Turn your porch light on...💡Let us all know you’re fine and have hope. We ask all with red, blue, white or your department colors...Light ‘em up and turn them on. Maybe just maybe, we’ll create five minutes of smiles and peace.

Please share and let's see if we can go Nationwide. We will be live at 7:00 PM TONIGHT!! 🚨🚨🚨

03/25/2020

Keep an eye out tonight around 7 pm. We’ll be doing a short live video for those that can’t get out of the house!

The Call

Volunteers are always welcome! Even if we have a full department we can make arrangements! Don’t hesitate to ask for an application!!!!

There’s a fire. You call for help. Who answers? The vast majority of Americans live in places that don’t have a single firefighter on the payroll.…
