Miracles DO happen! Huge shoutout out to and friends, and of course Maximus’ new family (who is eagerly awaiting his arrival), for bringing this rescue operation together! Maximus is outta here and will soon be headed out of state to his new home. 🐾 💕

ICYMI on our story, please take a moment to listen to Maximus’ story. has been graciosuly volunteering and creating content for our shelter dogs to educate and shed light on special cases. While we stand firm that we do not deadline dogs, we are hoping that Maximus find his second chance no later than end of day tomorrow. He’s told us in the only ways he can, this isn’t the place for him. We need to listen. Maximus and many others are eagerly awaiting.

You may remember seeing Maximus in this video a few weeks ago by

Maximus has been sitting on our urgent list for far too long, and despite our pleas, no one has come for him.

We saw the warning signs. We knew shelter life was taking a toll on him. We tried to get him out before things escalated, but when no adopter or rescue steps forward, there is only so much we can do within a shelter environment.

Recently, Maximus was involved in a minor incident. While the injury was not severe, it is something we cannot ignore. The reality is that the stress of long-term sheltering has contributed to behaviors that continue to worsen the longer he remains here.

One of Maximus’ biggest challenges is leash biting. Because he is potty trained, he requires daily walks and potty breaks. As you can imagine, safely managing a dog who needs to be walked multiple times a day while struggling with leash biting becomes increasingly difficult. We can manage these behaviors in the shelter, but we cannot fix them here. Maximus needs a home environment, structure, decompression, and someone willing to help him succeed.

The heartbreaking truth is that Maximus needed out weeks ago.

Our shelter is completely full, and we are asking for an adopter or rescue commitment for Maximus no later than end of business day Friday, June 26.

This is not the post we wanted to make, but it is the reality we are facing.

Please help us give Maximus the chance he deserves. Share his story. Tag rescues. Talk to friends and family.

Maximus is more than the behaviors shelter stress has created. He is a dog who deserves the opportunity to decompress, heal, and finally know what it feels like to belong. As you can see, he has the potential, but he needs a family to truly thrive.

💔 LONGEST RESIDENT SPOTLIGHT: THALIA 💔

Meet Thalia, our beautiful 4-year-old German Shepherd mix who has been waiting for a family since October LAST YEAR.

When Thalia arrived at the shelter, she was very pregnant and facing an uncertain future. Not long after, she gave birth to six beautiful puppies right here in the shelter. Despite the stress of being in a strange environment, Thalia was an incredible mama. She cared for her babies, protected them, and gave them everything she had.

One by one, all six of her puppies found foster homes and were eventually adopted into loving families. But somehow, Thalia was left behind.

We can’t imagine how difficult it must have been for her—to give birth in an unfamiliar place and then watch each of her puppies leave while she stayed behind. Being a shelter mama is a tough job, and Thalia did it with grace and devotion.

Today, Thalia is still waiting for someone to choose her.

She’s a little shy when meeting new people, but once she feels safe, her sweet and gentle personality begins to shine through. We believe Thalia may be related to Charlie and Murphy, who are also still waiting for homes of their own.

Thalia’s story is one of resilience, love, and patience. Now she deserves a happy ending.

✨ Be the difference in Thalia’s life.
✨ Take a chance on a dog who’s spent months waiting for her turn.
✨ Give this deserving mama the home she’s been dreaming of.

📍All adoption fees are currently WAIVED (except for licensing, where applicable)!

Come meet Thalia and see if she’s the missing piece of your family. ❤️

HELP‼️
As a small shelter, most of our animals exit through private adoptions via the support of our community. We’re calling upon you for that support now! Animals are coming in much faster than they’re leaving and adoptions have been very very slow. We have several dogs who have been with us since 2025 and more coming every day. In order to help safely exit our pets into loving homes, we’re waving adoption fees through this weekend. Please help us save some lives and clear some kennel space. We are trying, but we can’t do it without you.

As of today we have reached MAX CAPACITY. This is a very urgent situation for our small shelter. Every single kennel is full. If you have done a greet with a dog recently and contemplating on adopting, now is the time. If your dog was impounded now is the time to claim him/her. ❤️
