A Message from Chelsea’s Voice
To those who know me, my daughter Chelsea, and the mission of Chelsea’s Voice, you know that our purpose has always been rooted in love, advocacy, and service. We are a legitimate nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities, life-threatening illnesses, and the caregivers who walk this journey with them—often parents, siblings, grandparents, and extended family.
Recently, court filings made by a former hisnand of a boatdmember’s have falsely claimed that Chelsea’s Voice is not a legitimate nonprofit organization. To be clear: they are wrong. This is a baseless attack, and one that I feel compelled to address.
A Little History
Chelsea’s Voice was founded with the goal of creating real impact—whether through advocacy, fundraising, or direct support for families. Our second major fundraising event, Boots & Bowties, was scheduled for March 2020, the very weekend the COVID pandemic shut the world down. Like so many others, our plans came to a halt.
At the time, we were still a young organization—only two years in—and the effects of COVID hit us hard. Chelsea herself suffered greatly during that time. A nurse caused an injury that led to a significant health setback, and she spent nearly a year in the ICU at Rady Children’s Hospital. As her mother and primary caregiver, my priority had to be her care.
Despite everything, I continued the mission quietly—advocating for inclusive playgrounds, helping families in the ICU with gift cards and equipment, and doing what I could to support other parents going through what we were living every day.
Clarifying Our Nonprofit Status
Due to the extraordinary circumstances surrounding Chelsea’s health and the pandemic, a required 990 epostcard filing was missed. As a result, our nonprofit status was temporarily revoked. However, I’m proud to say that Chelsea’s Voice has been fully reinstated as of May 2024 with the same EIN we’ve had since the beginning. Our status as a 501(c)(3) is valid and current.
Looking Ahead
We are currently restructuring our website, Facebook, and Instagram to reflect the exciting changes ahead. Planning is underway for the Second Annual Boots & Bowties Fundraiser in March 2026, picking up where we were forced to pause back in 2020.
Chelsea is now home and thriving. Her strength continues to inspire our mission. I am also incredibly grateful for our board members—especially those who have gone above and beyond with their time, heart, and connections to help relaunch Chelsea’s Voice in the spirit it was originally created.
A Final Word
I say this: we will not be bullied or silenced by false claims and personal attacks because of one trying to character assassinate a person who is an amazing Board Member of Chelsea’s Voice and moving on with her life to help make such an amazing difference to families especially as my family. I will not allow your attempts at character assassination to undermine the important work we are doing and the women who you are simply upset for holding you accountable for your own illegitimate practices, fraudulent behavior.
This is more than a nonprofit. This is personal. This is about my daughter. About families like ours. About love. About purpose. About giving back when life takes more than it gives.
To our supporters, friends, and those who continue to believe in us—thank you from the bottom of my heart. Chelsea’s Voice is coming back stronger than ever, and we’re just getting started.
We will continue to be the voice for those who can’t speak for themselves—and a lifeline for the caregivers who so often go unseen.
Bless your heart.
With love and fierce dedication,
