Along iconic Route 66, we’re bridging agriculture, natural building materials, and hands-on skills to reimagine what affordable, sustainable housing can look like.

Under-pad plumbing hits DIFFERENT on a H**pcrete build.
Before pouring the pad, running under-slab plumbing for a hemp-lime home takes extra precision. H**pcrete stops above grade, but your under-pad layout sets up the whole build.
Here’s what you need to get right before the pour:
Thick Wall Setbacks H**pcrete walls are typically 10–12+ inches thick. Stubbing up for a standard 2x4 frame means your toilet fl**ge or drain lands inside the wall. Calculate all stubs off the timber frame centerline and final plaster finish.
Lime Sleeve Protocols Under IPC code, bare metals corrode in high-alkalinity environments. Any copper or metal stub passing through the slab into the hemp-lime envelope must be sleeved or wrapped. PEX-a inside conduit and sleeved DWV lines are standard practice.
V***r Barrier Seals Because hempcrete is v***r-permeable, sub-slab moisture is the enemy. Every pipe pe*******on through the under-pad v***r barrier must be taped or booted watertight before pouring concrete.

While hempcrete is an amazing, carbon-negative building material, it has one major weakness: ground moisture. Because it’s an insulating fill (not structural concrete), it needs a solid, elevated footing & stem wall underneath it.

We are honored to be partnering with Oregon State University and the Global H**p Innovation Center to create a first-of-its-kind hempcrete demonstration structure — a living showcase of innovation, craftsmanship, and the future of regenerative building.

This project will bring together multiple hempcrete installation methods, materials, and philosophies into one collaborative build environment. More than a structure, it will serve as a real-world cross section of where natural building is headed and what becomes possible when passionate people unite around a common purpose.

What makes this especially meaningful is the spirit behind it.

This isn’t just construction. It’s research. It’s education. It’s storytelling. It’s legacy work.

With a live installation and a full production crew documenting the process, we aim to capture not only the technical innovation happening in hempcrete construction, but also the human side of this movement —
