A fine ground mounted PV system with battery backup! System stats: 12 kW DC array of Silfab Solar Inc. 400 watt modules, IronRidge ground based racking, Sol-Ark 12K inverter and 30 kWh KiloVault HAB 7.5 batteries. These neighbors will have the lights on next time a storm knocks out power. ☀️

Looks like a standard grid tie but this SMA America inverter is AC Coupled to an existing SE Schneider XW plus inverter with 28 kWh LiFePO4 Iron Edison Battery Company battery bank installed by a previous company. When batteries are full the XW inverter slightly shifts frequency and the SMA inverter dials back power output to keep from overcharging batteries. It’s cool to watch for solar nerds like us!

Another solar power plant! This one shows the SMA Secure Power Supply feature we offer as an option for limited 120 VAC daytime backup power during outages without batteries.

System expansion at CoHoEcovillage. First system 7kW installed in 2009. New system built with Silfab Solar Inc. SIL330-BL and SMA America SB6.0-US inverters will more than double system size and generation. A lot has changed in 11 years but these systems do last and keep on producing clean solar energy for many years. That’s partially why we have so many repeat customers:)

Two old systems and one new one! One nice way to go solar is in stages if you can’t finance larger system at first. It might look a little different, but the oldest Sanyo 200 watt modules from 2009 are still producing 95%+ of original output. New modules are Silfab Solar Inc. SIL-330BL’s made in Bellingham, WA just one state away!

Today is "The Great Shakeout" earthquake drill! Abundant Solar will participate by executing our emergency plans which include: drop, cover and hold on, evacuating buildings after shaking, turning off water supply to buildings, assessing emergency plan, restocking supplies if needed and turning off utility power for 48 hours and running our shop on battery backed-up solar.

Hard to see but a great site for solar that we just wrapped up. 4.8 kW built with Silfab Solar Inc. SIL-320NL-W modules made in Washington state, Tigo optimizers and an SMA America SB3.8-1SP-US-41 inverter.

Keeping busy with this ground mounted array! 9.12 kW built with Silfab Solar Inc. 380-NT modules, IronRidge ground mount racking and an SMA America SB7.7 inverter. We do very few ground-mounts so it’s always fun to install them. They do cost more but are great where roof isn’t feasible.
