There is a contractor removing a very large elm tree in Central Park today. The tree is in decline due to the presence of Dutch Elm Disease, caused by an invasive fungal pathogen called Ophiostoma novo-ulmi, which spreads from tree to tree through roots. This tree will be replaced this winter. Any questions or concerns can be directed to Jon Pywell at [email protected]

City of Corvallis

Corvallis Parks & Recreation is committed to helping to develop this initiative in partnership with the City of Corvallis and the Corvallis community.

Last night the City Council adopted the budget for next fiscal year, which begins on July 1. The approval included a new item -- $150,000 to fund a bias response initiative for the Corvallis community. The concept was discussed in detail by passionate and dedicated community members, both at the meeting and in written comments, and the Council was supportive of the request. We'll report back about how this new initiative will take shape and how you can get involved -- for now, we're excited to take this next step in partnership with the community.
