The SBAC meets Monday evenings at 7 p.m. Meetings will be held via Zoom through the Fall. Benefits of SBAC participation include peer engagement, leadership, skill development and more. For those interested in tuition and fee rates, policies including short-term recommendations for 2021-2022 and long-term planning strategy for OSU tuition please complete an SBAC Membership Application Form via https://tinyurl.com/sbacapl or for more information feel free to check us out on the web at https://tinyurl.com/sbacmain or contact [email protected].

"As the COVID-19 pandemic set in, the team at Oregon State’s Human Services Resource Center saw a huge spike in demand for food assistance from OSU students and the community. At the same time, many students were finding themselves at home, doing a lot more cooking than they were used to, and looking for ideas and support.
The solution, developed by Food Security Programs Coordinator Emily Faltesek, was a weekly bag of groceries built around a theme, accompanied by a packet of recipes, tips and nutritional information to help guide students on their new culinary adventures, and styled a bit like home meal kits from companies such as Hello Fresh and Blue Apron." https://today.oregonstate.edu/story/fun-creative-healthy-beaver-bags-help-meet-student-food-security-needs

We started Healthy Beaver Bags this term as an experiment to help food insecure students get more fresh and healthy food during the pandemic shutdown. We will keep doing this through the summer- and we are trying to figure out how to keep it going after that too. All students deserve access to healthy, tasty and nourishing food. I wish college was free and the HSRC could go outta business- but in the meantime we are glad to be here and glad for the donors who support our work. Healthy Beaver Bags have been the best parts of our weeks. We hope you’ve been having fun trying new recipes, new foods and learning a bit along the way.

“Now, this country is going to be transformed. It will not be transformed by an act of God, but by all of us, by you and me. I don’t believe any longer that we can afford to say that it is entirely out of our hands. We made the world we’re living in and we have to make it over.”
- James Baldwin
This is probably the hardest finals week in the history of finals weeks.
On top of studying, taking care of others and changing the world- We hope you are all taking time for nourishment: from supportive relationships, spiritual connections (if that’s your thing), making art, loving on your people, dance/movement, and of course enjoying a satisfying meal. Eating veggies and fruits with antioxidants when you’re stressed is good for you at the cellular level. We are so grateful to have a nice mix of fresh produce going out with today’s food boxes.
