This photo captures Fire Chief Jesse Bolyard and Junior Firefighter Marcus Buchanan working side by side on the Moore Road Fire on the Fourth of July. The fire, caused by a firework, spread rapidly through dry brush, requiring a quick and coordinated response.

The Coulee City Volunteer Fire Department responded as mutual aid to assist one of our neighboring fire districts. Mutual aid is a critical part of the fire service—it ensures that when an emergency exceeds the resources of one department, neighboring agencies are there to help. By responding quickly to incidents like this, we not only help protect our neighboring communities, but we also strengthen the protection of our own through partnerships built on teamwork and trust.

This photo also represents what makes the fire service so special: experienced leaders mentoring the next generation. Chief Bolyard’s guidance and Marcus’s dedication are a testament to the future of the Coulee City Fire Department.

We are proud of every firefighter who gave up part of their Fourth of July to protect lives, property, and our communities. Thank you to all of our mutual aid partners for your continued commitment and teamwork.

🚨 Important Fourth of July Fireworks Update 🎆

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has implemented new fire restrictions for the Fourth of July due to increased fire danger.

Effective immediately:
❌ Fireworks are not permitted on the jetty.
❌ Fireworks are not permitted in the Coulee City Campground.
❌ Fireworks are not permitted anywhere within the Town of Coulee City limits.

These restrictions are in place to help reduce the risk of wildfire and protect our community, visitors, and surrounding public lands.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in following these restrictions and celebrating the holiday safely. If you see a fire or an emergency, call 911 immediately.

🎆 Fourth of July Fireworks Safety Reminder 🇺🇸🚒

As we celebrate Independence Day, the Coulee City Fire Department would like to remind everyone to celebrate safely and responsibly.

Fireworks are ONLY authorized on the jetty. Fireworks are not permitted within the campground or anywhere inside the Coulee City limits. Please help us keep our community, visitors, and surrounding areas safe by following these regulations.

To help ensure a quick response to any emergencies, the Coulee City Fire Department will have several fire apparatus staged at the boat launch throughout the evening. Our volunteers will be ready to respond immediately to any fireworks-related fires or emergencies.

You can help us have a safe and enjoyable holiday by:
• Using fireworks only in the authorized area.
• Keeping water and a shovel nearby.
• Never lighting fireworks in dry grass or brush.
• Properly disposing of used fireworks by soaking them in water before throwing them away.
• Supervising children at all times around fireworks.
• Calling 911 immediately if a fire starts or someone is injured.

Let’s work together to keep this Fourth of July safe, fun, and memorable for everyone.

The Coulee City Fire Department would like to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone in our community who helped support our firefighters during the Garred Road Fire.

From providing meals, snacks, water, and other supplies, your generosity ensured our crews remained fed, hydrated, and ready to continue protecting our community during a long and demanding incident. Your kindness and support did not go unnoticed and were greatly appreciated by every firefighter on the fire line.

This is what makes communities like ours so special—neighbors helping neighbors and coming together when it matters most.

On behalf of the entire Coulee City Fire Department, thank you for standing behind your firefighters and supporting us throughout this incident. We are proud to serve such an incredible community.

A huge thank you to our neighboring fire districts for their rapid response and assistance at the Garred Road Fire. Incidents like this serve as an important reminder of why mutual aid partnerships are so critical in protecting our communities.

Working together allows us to bring the personnel, equipment, and resources needed to safely and effectively manage emergency incidents while ensuring continued coverage throughout the region.

Crews from Coulee City Fire remain on scene monitoring for hot spots and potential reignition to ensure the fire is fully contained and the area remains safe.

We appreciate the dedication and teamwork demonstrated by all responding agencies. Thank you for your continued support and commitment to serving our communities.

Thank you Airlift Northwest for coming and doing some training and answering questions for our Coulee City Fire Department, Fire District 6, and all our Jr. firefighters tonight.

Living in a rural area like we do, having a medical emergency can likely result in a situation that requires a higher level of care than where we would transport in our ambulance.

Having automatic lights doesn’t mean they’ll activate in fog—or that your tail lights will come on even if the headlights do. It’s your responsibility to turn your lights on. This is a serious safety matter. Please turn your lights on! Stay safe.
