Committee to Elect Daywi Cook

Committee to Elect Daywi Cook This page is to support Daywi Cook as candidate for SUPERVISOR of Covert Township in Van Buren County, Michigan.

Vote for Daywi Cook at the Primary Election on August 4, 2020. I was elected the Clerk of Covert Township in 2016, and am currently seeking the office of Supervisor. Although my current role has been rewarding, I believe my time and resources would better serve the community of Covert in the role of Supervisor. We’ve accomplished so much since 2016, and yet there is so much more we can do! Our be

autiful, vibrant community is being under-served and too many opportunities are being lost. This is especially important as we know the closure of Palisades Nuclear Power Plant will drastically decrease the tax revenue over the next several years. If elected Supervisor, I will continue to challenge the board and community members by introducing and implementing solutions to support the economic growth and sustainability of Covert Township.

About Me

I am a Covert native, a mom, a wife, and a public servant who is committed to preserving and improving the value of life for every citizen in our township. When I am not in the office, you will find me on our homestead gardening with the kids, working on my next DIY project, taking the time to travel or exploring the amazing natural resources our community has to offer.

I earned a Bachelor of Arts from Loyola University Chicago in Advertising and Public Relations. Shortly thereafter, I began working for a major dining cruise company in Chicago where I gained experience and honed skills that would eventually prepare me for a challenging yet rewarding path toward public service. In 2012, I moved back to my hometown of Covert to start a family. My husband and I offered marketing services to help local businesses, and I was soon asked to fill the position of Deputy Treasurer and became chair of the Park Advisory Committee. A vacancy on the board then presented an opportunity to run for office. My focus on improving the quality of life and economic growth of Covert, as well as the overwhelming support of the community, allowed me to be elected to office in 2016. As Township Clerk, I get to be a voice for the public on a board that influences the direction of the community. I am trained in emergency management as Liaison Officer and assistant to the Police Chief and serve on various other boards and committees. I am also the proud mom of two little ones who are now the 5th generation in my family to reside in Covert.
