📬 2026 PROPERTY TAX BILLS HAVE BEEN MAILED!

The Newton County Tax Commissioner’s Office is pleased to announce that 2026 property tax bills have been mailed and are now available online for viewing and payment!

💻 You don’t have to wait for your bill to arrive in the mail.
Visit www.newtoncountytax.com today to:

✅ View your 2026 property tax bill
✅ Make a payment online
✅ Begin making partial payments toward your balance

📅 IMPORTANT: NEW PROPERTY TAX DEADLINE

Beginning with the 2026 tax year, the annual property tax due date has changed from December 20 to November 15.

Because November 15 falls on a Sunday this year, taxpayers may make their payment through Monday, November 16, 2026, without penalties or interest being charged.

🏠 HOMEOWNERS: LOOK FOR YOUR HTRG CREDIT

Eligible homeowners will see a Homeowner Tax Relief Grant (HTRG) credit applied to their 2026 property tax bill.

Because of this state legislature approved and funded credit, most homesteaded property owners will see a reduction in their 2026 property tax bill compared to last year.

The amount of the HTRG credit varies depending on the taxing jurisdiction where the property is located and the applicable millage rates.

The HTRG credit is separate from your regular Homestead or Senior Exemptions and is a one-time credit for the 2026 tax year.

💰 DON’T WAIT UNTIL NOVEMBER!

Payments are being accepted NOW, and partial payments are always accepted. Taxpayers who would benefit from spreading their payments out are encouraged to start early.

📍 Payment Options:
💻 Online
📬 By Mail
🏢 In Person at either Tax Commissioner’s Office location

🏡 COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT IN ACTION

Last night, Tax Commissioner Brent Bennett had the pleasure of speaking with residents of the Fairview Estates HOA as part of our office’s ongoing commitment to community engagement, education, and outreach.

During the meeting, Commissioner Bennett discussed the role of the Tax Commissioner’s Office, our goals for serving Newton County taxpayers, recent office improvements and changes, and important information regarding 2026 property tax billing.

We believe that providing excellent service goes beyond the walls of our offices. It also means getting out into the community, answering questions, sharing information, and helping taxpayers better understand the services we provide.

📣 Would you like us to speak to your neighborhood or organization?

The Newton County Tax Commissioner’s Office welcomes opportunities to speak at HOA meetings, neighborhood gatherings, civic organizations, community events, and other local meetings. We can provide information about property taxes, motor vehicle services, office initiatives, upcoming changes, and answer general questions from your members.

If your organization would like to invite Tax Commissioner Bennett or a member of our team to an upcoming event, please reach out to our office to schedule a presentation.

We look forward to continuing to connect with and serve the Newton County community!

🚨 Property Tax Sale Notice – September 1, 2026 🚨

The Newton County Tax Commissioner's Office will conduct its next Property Tax Sale on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

A tax sale is conducted to collect delinquent property taxes as required by Georgia law. Property owners with delinquent taxes are encouraged to contact our office immediately to discuss their account before the sale date.

Did You Know?

Before any property is offered for tax sale, Georgia law requires the property to be advertised in the county's legal organ. In Newton County, tax sale advertisements are published in the Covington News, the county's official legal organ. Property owners are encouraged to review these legal notices and contact our office immediately if they see their property listed.

📅 Date: Tuesday, September 1, 2026
🕤 Registration Begins: 9:30 a.m.

If you have received delinquent tax notices—or if your property has been advertised for tax sale—please contact our office as soon as possible. Waiting until the day of the sale may significantly limit the options available to resolve your account.
