Well, I guess it’s time to make the first official post on Cup of Hope Shenandoah.
This Saturday, we are joining Reprieve for their Love Your Neighbor event. Reprieve is doing amazing work obeying God’s voice and showing up to love on others, and their hearts are so similar to Cup of Hope that we are thrilled to be able to join hands with them at this event and I’m sure in the future too!!
Anyway, Cup of Hope wanted to provide toiletries and household goods for this event. Guys when I say I have no idea what I’m doing trying to start this up here in Augusta County, I MEAN IT 😂. But God HAS laid it on my heart that there are actually MANY willing and eager hearts out there wanting to help the needy in our communities. It’s just (sadly) hard to find real tangible ways to get involved sometimes. So, just getting the word out there and ASKING is key.
I presented my wishlist of donation items to Growing Together Fellowship and it was not a small list. 17 different items, and I asked for 100 of each. I was thinking *maybe* I’d get half of that. Not only that but it was last minute so people only had three days to get the items they signed up for.
When i went to gather my sign up lists, ALL THE ITEMS HAD BEEN COVERED!!!
Yesterday, I went to pick them up. By the time I got home, I couldn’t see out of the windows of my car 🤣
Look at the picture below!!! All I had to do was ask, and these people went ABOVE and BEYOND.
I am so encouraged and excited and I wanted to share!!
The Love Your Neighbor event will be this Saturday at 1130am, serving a low income housing community in Staunton. Reprieve is grilling hotdogs, serving snacks and drinks, and I think someone is bringing crafts to do with kids. Mainly we will all be hanging out, bringing our chairs to just sit and relax with these people, getting to know them and spending time with them.
