In this scam, a fraudster contacts a business pretending to be from their bank and claims to be calling to confirm or verify a wire transfer request.

We’ve seen a recent increase in Business Email Compromise (BEC) scams, which often look like legitimate requests from trusted vendors or contacts.

Fraudsters often spoof email or text requests with slight variations in addresses to fool victims into thinking the fake account is legitimate. Emails requesting a change in your payment method or to send funds to a different account should raise a red flag.

Earlier this year we hosted The Way You Pay Sweepstakes, where City customers who used their debit Mastercard to make eligible purchases were entered to win cash and gift cards.

Congratulations to our grand prize winner, Kathy Grimm, shown here with Branch Manager Nikhil Raina and FSR Sharon Marpole at our King Street office in Martinsburg, WV.
