The polls are closed and the votes have been counted. While I did run unopposed in the primary, I could not be more thankful and humbled by the outpouring of support I received. For the second consecutive election cycle, I have had the honor of receiving the most votes out of any candidate on the Winfield Township ballot, including the folks that ran countywide. It is my honor and distinct privilege to serve you, the residents of the Town of Winfield and unincorporated Winfield Township, as your Township Trustee. I do not take this lightly. I pledge to do everything within my power and ability to keep your trust and always put the people first.

However, the fight is not over. The primary is just the first round, with the election cycle culminating with the General Election in November. To those whose votes I earned in the primary, you have my profound and earnest thanks. And, for those whose votes I did not earn, I will work tirelessly on your behalf in the intervening period in order to prove I am worthy of your trust.

Thank you Winfield Township! For me, this has already been an adventure of a lifetime, but I look forward to the good things yet to come over these next four years! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

🚨🗳️ Re-Elect Cody J. Reynolds for Winfield Township Trustee on May 5th, 2026🗳️🚨

It has been an honor and a privilege serving as your Winfield Township Trustee for the last 3 years. I am now coming before you, my friends and neighbors, to ask for your support for a second term. We have accomplished much together over the course of this first term. Since January 1st, 2023, we have:

✅invested more than $2.1 million in the Lakes of the Four Seasons Fire Force in order to improve firefighting and emergency medical services for our growing community;

✅distributed more than 70,000 lbs of food, with a total market value of approximately nearly $200,000.00, to approximately 500 local families; and

✅disbursed more than $130,000.00 in financial assistance for residents struggling to pay for basic necessities like utilitiy bills, housing, and funeral expenses.

I am incredibly proud of all that we have accomplished but so much more remains. We can always strive to do more, reach more people, and be a better steward of the public dollar. That is my pledge to you.

It has been my distinct honor to serve Winfield Township and I hope to have earned your continued support. With your help, I know we can continue to make Winfield Township one of the best places to live in Northwest Indiana!

🚨🔥 Update on Structure Fire in Winfield Township 🔥🚨

This morning I had the opportunity to visit the scene of the structure fire that occurred yesterday afternoon in unincorporated Winfield Township within Lakes of the Four Seasons. The fire consumed an entire condominium building and has displaced six local families. As I toured the fire scene, I was struck by the utter loss and devastation they now face. This is a recovery that will be measured, not in days and weeks, but in months and years.

Following the site visit, my team and I spent the rest of the day working to make contact with each of the impacted families. To date, we have been able to reach and begin assisting three of the six families. It is our understanding that the three other families are not currently in the local area. We will continue to make every effort to reach them as well.

Your Township stands ready to assist our affected residents with immediate concerns like food assistance, hygiene products, and clothing needs. As we continue to work with these folks, additional supports, such as shelter and utility assistance, may also become available.

Since the fire, my office has been inundated with requests about what items are needed to help the families and where they can be donated. While we sincerely appreciate the outpouring of support from our community, we are currently asking everyone to wait on donating clothing and other items until the actual needs become clearer. Our office has limited storage space available and we also do not want to take items that may be of use elsewhere. My office will continue to work with the affected residents and we will communicate their needs as we receive them.

Finally, I would like to express my admiration and thanks to our the brave men and women at the Lakes of the Four Seasons Volunteer Fire Force and all of the mutual aid responders. Each of them is an every-day-hero whose actual business is the business of saving lives, live-hoods, and property. As your Trustee, I have made it my priority to support our firefighting and EMS professionals to ensure, to the extent possible, the highest standards of public safety. During my tenure, I am proud to say we have increased funding for the LOFS Fire Force by more than 100%. But, there is obviously much more work to do.

My heart hurts for our families and I truthfully have a lot to say on the matter. But, in order to avoid politicizing a tragedy, I will hold my tongue for now. The needs of our residents comes first and that remains my focus. Just know, once the ash settles and our friends and neighbors are safe and cared for, you’ll be hearing more from me on this. That I can promise.

If you, or someone you know, has been impacted by this fire, please have them reach out to the Winfield Township Trustee’s Office via the contact information below. We stand ready and willing to assist however we may be able.

Earlier this week, I had the honor of filing for re-election as your Winfield Township Trustee. As I have been reflecting on the last few years, I have been awestruck by what we have been able to accomplish together. Upon entering the office, I took the opportunity to zero-sum the budget, rebuild it dollar by dollar, and refocuse it on providing high-quality services to our residents. Now, three years later I am honored to report that, since January 1st, 2023:

✅Winfield Township has disbursed more than $119,680.00 in financial assistance for residents struggling to pay for basic necessities like utilitiy bills, housing, and funeral expenses;

✅the Winfield Township Food Pantry has provided members of our community with almost 63,000 lbs of food, with a total market value of $176,905.00, while spending less than $20,000.00 to fund the program (which is a 784.5% return on investment); and

✅the Township has made more than $2.1 million in investments into the Lakes of the Four Seasons Fire Force in order to improve firefighting and emergency medical services for our growing community.

It is for these reasons and many more that I humbly ask for your support for a second term as the Winfield Township Trustee. As has already been said, we have accomplished many things together in the last three years, but so much more remains. With your help, I know we can continue to make Winfield Township one of the best places to live in Northwest Indiana!

Last week, the Winfield Township Board and I worked together to draft and adopt the new budget for Calendar Year 2026. I could not be more proud of the final product. When I first ran for public office, I pledged to make Township government work for the people. Over the last three years, the Board and I have worked tirelessly to revitalize township finances and prioritize funding for those programs that provide a direct benefit to our residents. I am proud to say that the 2026 Budget is no exception to that rule. This budget increases funding for public safety, poverty relief, and parks and recreation, while simultaneously building our cash savings for future projects. Check out the post below to learn more about some of the great things we have in store for the coming year!

🚨📜 Winfield Township Adopts 2026 Budget 📜🚨

On Monday, September 29th, 2025, the Winfield Township Board unanimously adopted the proposed Township budget for Calendar Year 2026. All told, Winfield Township’s 2026 budget totals $970,601.00, a 4.1% increase over the current year. Notable features of next year’s budget include:

- More than $68,000.00 in additional funding for firefighting and emergency medical services, which should enable the Lakes of the Four Seasons Volunteer Fire Force to staff a fourth, part-time position per shift and thereby improve the delivery of services and decrease wait times during emergencies;

- $32,500.00 for our Township Assistance program, which provides support for families-in-need by helping to pay mortgage, rent, utility, and other bills for household necessities;

-$24,700.00 to support Township parks and community recreational activities, which represents a nearly 18% increase in funding. Part of these funds will be used to restore approximately 3 acres of Township property with native trees, shrubs, and grasses for public enjoyment and education.

Even with the increases listed above, the 2026 Budget promotes sound fiscal policy and protects taxpayers’ hard-earned dollars. Over the next year, the Township will accrue more than $165,000.00 in intentional savings. These cash balances act as a financial reserve for the Township and enable future capital purchases, such as land, building improvements, as well as fire and ems equipment and apparatus. Overall, the 2026 Budget is a testament to the Township Board and Trustee’s continued prioritization of funding for those programs which provide direct services to residents. Our goal is to make Township government work for YOU!

Last week, I had the opportunity to meet with Elise Nieshalla for State Comptroller when she visited Dyer. She gave a very informative speech about the State of Indiana’s fiscal health and the government debt initiatives her office is leading across the country. I also appreciated the opportunity to share some of big things we are doing here in Winfield Township to improve the quality of life and services provided within our community.

On Friday, I had the honor of serving as one of five judges for the Lakes of the Four Seasons Lions Club’s annual Fourth of July Parade. Thousands of Lake and Porter County residents joined us along the parade. Notably, this is the only Fourth of July Parade held within Winfield Township. A big congratulations to our three winners: 🇺🇸📢🇺🇸

🏆 - Tiki Radio for Best Business Entry,

🏆- Whiskers of Winfield for Best Community Entry, and

🏆 - Eric Benko and Friends for best Neighborhood Entry!

I hope everyone had a safe and happy Independence Day weekend! 🇺🇸🎇🎆🇺🇸

Honor. Respect. Sacrifice. Today, we are all reminded that the freedoms and leisure that we have come to expect in life are not free. More than 2,852,901 servicemen and women have paid the ultimate price so that successive generations could live the American Dream. It was a privilege to attend the Lake County Memorial Day Service held at Stoney Run County Park in honor of our local heroes who didn’t make it home. It was also good to see my friend, and veteran, Jim Furlong at the memorial. My compliments to the Lake County Parks Department, Operation Charlie Bravo, and Congressman Frank J. Mrvan for putting together such a moving ceremony.

More than 1 in 10 households in the US will face food insecurity this year. That number nearly doubles (18%) among families with children. Donations to your local food pantries are essential in fighting adult and childhood hunger. I could not be more grateful for our recent partnership with Taft Middle School. This was our very first food drive with them since the school reopened at its new location in Winfield Township. I look forward to working with the Taft community for many years to come!

A huge and heartfelt THANK YOU to Taft Middle School’s Student Council and the entire Taft community for this week’s donation of almost 300 lbs of food to the Winfield Township Food Pantry! This donation will be an enormous help to local families as we head into the summer months. Providing three meals a day can be challenging for any family, but particularly so for families with children who typically eat one or two meals at school each day during the week. This act of selflessness and compassion will go a long way towards helping our friends and neighors provide nutritous meals for their families. 🍎🥪🥕🥜🧃
