For "Cyber Monday", take a break from the internet, unplug, and taker a hike through the forest. It's good for the soul :)

Hiking through the woods, you may come across this year's litter of red fox (vulpes vulpes) pups. The area around the pond and wooded swamp beyond it is a great location to sit quietly and wait; if they don't notice you, the mother and her pups may come out and explore their habitat.

Has anybody been out here, lately, now that the weather's nice?

Thrilled to see a pair of Red foxes tonight, walking across the frozen surface of the pond. They were in view for quite a while as they foraged and patrolled the surrounding area. At one point, one of the foxes sat down and rested under the light near the nature center, allowing me to take a few photographs. Unfortunately the distance was just far enough that the flash didn't illuminate the fox.

For quite a while an Eastern screech owl called in the south end of the woods, letting loose a variety of vocalizations. As usual, raccoons were everywhere.
