Once you sign up, you will be assigned an anonymous family along with each family member's age and gender. We are asking for $20 per gift per family member.

During the week of July 10-16, 2022, Illinois Migrant Council took part in the annual National Heat Stress Prevention Training Marathon (HSPTM) by @afophealth. We were amongst several organizational partners that participated with AFOP that expected to train over 1,000 farmworkers during this past week on how to prevent heat-related illnesses, through interactive – low literacy – bilingual training. #HSPTM is part of OSHA’s national Heat Stress Prevention Campaign (Water-Rest-Shade) to prevent heat-related illnesses among outdoor workers. Excessive exposure to heat can cause a range of heat-related illnesses, from skin rash and cramps to heat exhaustion and heat stroke, which could result in death if prompt medical attention is not provided. Prevention is very important to avoid this kind of health disaster. In other words, prevention is extremely important to maintaining healthy wellbeing. Update on Cedric Simmons: Cedric Simmons is now happily in an upgraded agricultural job where he is a truck driver. Cedric is benefitting from the CDL skills he learned previously.

Meet Bryan who loaded grains seasonally as a farmworker in Central Illinois. He completed training for Journeyman Welder II Pipe Fitting at Midwest Technical Institute under IMC's National Farmworker Jobs Program.
