[🚨 CITRUS COUNTY: OUR COMMUNITY, OUR VOICE 🚨]

Growth is coming to Citrus County, but the big question is: Who is it actually benefiting?
Right now, massive development projects and zoning changes—like the proposed Holder data center—are moving through county channels. As Citrus County plans for its future, local Democrats believe that development should happen with our community, not to it.
We are advocating for a Citrus County that prioritizes:

đź’§ Environmental Stewardship: Our springs, rural lands, and the Floridan Aquifer are irreplaceable. We must demand rigorous scrutiny on water and energy use for any industrial project. We won't let outside corporations compromise our natural resources.

🛣️ Taxpayer Fairness: When massive new developments strain our roads, power grid, and utilities, developers must pay their fair share. We will fight to ensure infrastructure costs aren't quietly passed down to local working families through higher taxes or utility rates.

🏡 Smart, Sustainable Growth: We support high-wage job creation, but we reject unchecked sprawl that destroys the unique character of our neighborhoods. Let’s protect our safe, walkable communities and rural spaces.

🗣️ Real Transparency: You shouldn't need a law degree to understand how a zoning change affects your backyard. We demand that the Board of County Commissioners makes impact data clear, accessible, and open to public debate before the rubber stamp comes down.
How you can get involved: Don't let big-money developers drown out your voice. Stay informed on upcoming Comprehensive Plan Amendments (CPAs) and Planned Unit Developments (PUDs). Show up to the next Board of County Commissioners meeting, speak up during public comment, and let's protect the Citrus County we love.

A judge declined to temporarily block Florida's new congressional map, allowing it to remain as the lawsuit challenging it moves forward. The plaintiffs plan to appeal, but time is running short before the August primary ballot deadline.

Help Us Deliver Our Message Directly to Citrus County Voters! ✉️🍊

As your Democratic Party , our top priority is ensuring our community stays informed, organized, and ready to stand up for our shared values. Right now, we have a critical opportunity to reach voters directly in their homes with our latest initiative—but we need our grassroots community to get it across the finish line.

We are launching a targeted postcard campaign to deliver vital updates, voting information, and our vision for a stronger community straight to local mailboxes.

The Goal: $640

To cover the printing and postage for this entire mailing, we need to raise an aggregated total of $640. It’s a lean, highly efficient project where every single dollar goes directly toward grassroots voter education and outreach right here in Citrus County.

How You Can Help:

Whether you can chip in the cost of a few stamps or sponsor an entire neighborhood's mailing, your support keeps our local movement moving forward.

$25 helps us reach dozens of local households.

$50 expands our reach to an entire neighborhood block.

$100 funds a major chunk of the postage.

Let’s keep building our presence, organizing at the local level, and ensuring Citrus County Democrats are informed and connected.

In Response to Governor DeSantis on his Honoring Heritage Beyond Namesakes

While we celebrate the unveiling of President James Madison’s statue in Madison County, it is important to remember that Florida’s greatness isn't just found in the names of the men on our maps—it’s found in the industries and citizens who built this state from the ground up.

Why This Matters to Citrus County

Our county wasn't named after a politician; it was named after the Citrus Industry that once defined Florida’s economic frontier.

While "Founding Father" statues are a noble tribute for America’s 250th birthday, our community deserves to see its own unique history recognized with the same level of state-commissioned prestige.

• Recognition Gap: Madison, Jefferson, and Washington counties receive state-funded monuments, yet Citrus County—a pillar of Florida's agricultural and ecological history—continues to wait for similar investment in our local heritage sites.

• Economic Equity: State commissions should celebrate the work of Floridians as much as the founders of Florida. Our "Founding Fathers" were the pioneers who planted the groves and protected our springs.

• The 250th Vision: As we approach America’s 250th, the story of Florida is incomplete if we only focus on the namesakes. The story includes the "Citrus Belt," our veterans, and the hardworking families of the Nature Coast.
