Due to the holidays, this week's trash pickup is moved to Friday. Remember to adjust your schedules! The change is temporary to accommodate the holiday period. Let's keep our neighborhoods clean together!

12/23/2023

As we prepare for the holidays, which may include drive-time for some, we thought it would be good to identify everyone’s role in the moving vehicle.

We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Update: The test was successful and we should be fully functional now. They will also be testing the downtown siren sometime in the next hour. These are short "growl" tests so you may not hear it going off, but if you, don't worry! Just a test.

The City will be testing the Outdoor weather siren located near Patriot Estates very shortly to ensure it is working while the repair crew is on site. No emergency is occurring and we apologize for the unscheduled test.

This Saturday, the annular eclipse will occur. It is a type of solar eclipse where the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, but does not completely cover the Sun's disk. As a result, a ring of sunlight will still be visible around the Moon's shadow.

Remember to use proper eye protection to avoid damaging the eyes. Special eclipse glasses or solar filters should be used to safely view the eclipse. Looking directly at the Sun during an eclipse without proper protection can cause permanent eye damage.

Stay safe and protect your eyes while enjoying this awe-inspiring event.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Water Service Interruption for Critical Infrastructure Repair

The City of Venus Public Works Department is announcing a planned water service interruption on Friday, September 29th, 2023, from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM to facilitate essential maintenance and repair work on the city's main water intake line.

This temporary disruption in water service is necessary to ensure the long-term reliability and safety of our water supply system.

During this brief interruption, residents and businesses in the affected areas will experience a temporary cessation of water supply. To minimize inconveniences, we advise all affected individuals to take necessary precautions, such as storing a supply of water for essential needs, prior to the scheduled maintenance window.

This will not affect Patriot Estates or other areas with Mountain Peak water service. We understand the inconvenience this may cause and assure you that every effort will be made to complete the repair work promptly. Venus Public Works Department is committed to minimizing disruptions and ensuring the highest quality of service to our community.

The Venus Fire Department is aware of the situation and is taking preventative measures to ensure ample water supply will be available for any potential fire suppression needs.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this essential maintenance period. If you have any questions or require additional information, please contact the Venus Public Works Department at (682) 459-9434.

Regards,
Alejandro Galaviz
Mayor
